Welcome to your new favorite vacation home, The Salty Dog ReTreat at Kure Beach, NC! This spacious 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath, dog friendly home sleeps 8 people comfortably in a quiet cul-de-sac less than 2 blocks away from the beach with private beach parking and access. Enjoy the covered decks on 2 levels and fastest WiFi for those working from home or e-learning with kids. Relax in the fenced-in back yard with a hot tub pavilion equipped with an outdoor bar, gas grill, and outdoor shower.

When you arrive at the Salty Dog Retreat, you'll have plenty of parking with access to 2 garages and 2 driveways (enough space for 4 vehicles). Inside the garage, you'll find a ping pong table and beach chairs. If you don't want to walk the 2 blocks to the beach, you'll have free parking and private access to the beach and bathroom onsite.

The first level will bring you to the 3 bedrooms, each with Roku TVs, Sealy Posturepedic mattresses and fresh linens (sheets, blankets, and bath towels), available to you at no additional charge. The master bedroom has a king bed with a private bathroom and access to the deck. The second bedroom has a queen bed and access to a balcony that overlooks the backyard. The third bedroom has bunk beds (full over full) that can sleep 4 people, with access to a second balcony.

The top floor of the home boasts an open floor plan living area for fun, family gatherings. Everyone can enjoy the Roku TV, gas fire place, books to read on one of the covered decks to to take to the beach, board games and a variety of DVDs. WiFi is available to use the Smart TVs to stream popular apps. (Guests must provide their own login information. Cable television is not available.) Enjoy a chef’s kitchen with stainless steel appliances, quartz counter tops, and nearly every cooking tool you’ll need. We offer both a drip coffee pot and Kuerig coffee maker, but coffee is not provided.

Up to 2 dogs are welcome (no dog fees!). Breed restrictions apply. Between April 1st and September 30th, the Town of Kure Beach does not allow dogs on the beach; however, Carolina Beach allows leashed dogs before 9am and after 5pm. You're able to take dogs on the beach at any time to Freeman Park and Fort Fisher State Recreation area.

Hot tub is professionally cleaned, sanitized and balanced after each guest.

Check-in is after 4:00PM and check-out is before 10:00AM. To ensure the safety of our guests and due to enhanced cleaning protocols, we are unable to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs at this time.

We provide enough dish soap and paper goods to get your vacation started, but the guests will be responsible for any additional dish soap, paper towels, and/or toilet paper.

We liked the house, but the photos on VRBO must be pretty old because the place could use some TLC.Many burned out light bulbs in living area and shared closet in two smaller bedrooms; lighting in hall bathroom very poor, missing/broken towel bar in half bath, refrigerator had a red light saying the water filter needed to be replaced as did the Brita water pitcher in the fridge.

I loved the location and the fact that it was pet friendly, but the carpet in the bedrooms were dirty. We didn't have but 1 kitchen towel and no dish rags. We only had enough bath towels and wash clothes for use of 1 time then we had to wash them. In other words not enough for a family of six. I didn't bring extra because it said it would be provided. Other than that we had a great time and enjoyed the open space of the kitchen and living room and making new memories.

Puppy paradise on the beach

We had the BEST time at the salty dog. The home was well appointed, in a great area, and perfect for relaxation. The neighborhood beach access is a huge perk. The neighbors were all kind. Just about 15 minutes down the road is fort fisher state park beach - dogs are allowed 24/7 and so we took our pups there and enjoyed the waves. We had a great time and are so thankful for the space and place.

Upscale, Safe, Quiet Family Getaway

Very fortunate to have the opportunity to spend a week at this property with our teenager and dog. The layout is fantastic with stairs on the inside & out so dog and humans can make their way around easily. Dog can roam from the top deck to the back yard freely and protected inside gates & fences. House was very clean, well stocked with paper products and linens. Appreciated the large kitchen, cookware, nice appliances, and decent selection of knives(rare! at a VRBO!) Neighborhood is quiet and very safe. Highly recommend!

Great location

The house was in a great location. Found it to be clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The only thing I would recommend is bigger and more bath towels. Also some more tupperware to store left overs. The owner was great to work with.

Great for vacationing with your pets

House was roomy and very convenient to the beach. We really enjoyed hanging out on the decks in the evenings and listening to the waves. We were grateful we could bring our 2 dogs. My only suggesting is replacing the very stained bedroom carpets with LVP flooring or other non-carpeting.

Fourth of July trip

We love traveling to Kure Beach for our summer vacations and decided to splurge a bit this time to stay closer to the beach. The location was perfect, and the house had beautifully renovated bathrooms. However, the carpets were extremely dirty, with stains in every room that seemed to be from dog accidents, and they were overall in very poor condition. The air filters were clogged with dust and debris, and when we tried to vacuum to improve the cleanliness, we found the vacuum was clogged with months of dander and animal hair. It's a shame because the property itself is ideal, but we won't be staying here again.

Perfect Location - great house

The location was fantastic. The porch is dreamy, with the breeze coming off the ocean, even the hottest day can be enjoyed outside on the beautiful built in bench seating. Beach access was a bonus - I didn’t realize we had a pass to the private entrance. Made toting our beach gear so much easier - although the walk is easy, just about a block and a half. The owner is incredibly responsive and check in was easy-peasy. If you do stay here - please be respectful of the owner and the next guest and pick up after your dog. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Dream House

The yard is perfect for dogs and the hot tub, covered porches, and house are perfect for people. The gas stove was a joy to cook on and everything was super clean and comfortable. Thank you for a much-needed weekend of relaxation! I literally didn't leave the house all weekend and was perfectly fine with that.

Dog Friendly & Close to Beach

Great space, clean, had everything we needed! The fenced in space is connected to the main suites and was wonderful to just open the door and let our dog run to the backyard. The house was comfortable and felt homey. Great place to stay and just a block from the beach!

Amazing location

When staying at this home, I was confused by the layout but that could’ve been me. The main living space is on the top floor (kitchen & living room) while the bedrooms were on the main floor. Overall it was great. Kathleen was on it & will definitely come back!
