Step into Beach Retreat and get brought back to the 1970s Vintage Nags Head. Small 2 Bedroom Bungalow with updated kitchen, fresh white cabinets and butcher block countertops. New floors and ceiling. New light fixtures and New Stainless Steel Appliances Fridge w/ Ice maker. The Master Bedroom is Oceanfront with new furniture. Complete Tranquility listening to the Ocean from the back porch and Master Bedroom. The back porch also features a private outdoor shower with hot and cold water and bench. The back porch and walkway is pet friendly with dog gates. The front bedroom has a full and bunk beds. The bathroom is situated in the middle with updated Porcelain tile and new toilet. All fresh paint throughout. Cottage is clean well maintained.

Cottage includes: Sheets and bath towels, kitchen cloth and wash cloth. Mr. Coffee and keurig, blankets, comforters, pillows, and dishware. Housekeeping will leave 1 roll of TP for emergencies.

We really enjoyed our time here! The location couldn’t have been better! It was just steps from the beach, which made everything super easy and relaxing. Check-in was a breeze, and the house had everything we needed. The owner was great at communicating and made sure we had all the info ahead of time. Would definitely stay again!

Renter Beware - it's a dump

Stayed 2 week, actually left early it was so gross with NO response from owner. Main issues: 1) Seriously overpriced. Property is 2 star at best as it is old, run down and needs serious maintenance. Decks are dangerous and wobbly with rusted screws sticking up, boards coming up, outdoor furniture too dangerous and wobbly to use. Plants growing up through grill, filthy rooms, smelly carpets and musty closets. There are huge wood roaches that come out at night in the bedrooms, ants all over kitchen. etc. Furnishings old and sticky. I have photos and videos which I am happy to share. Contacted the owner after first week with these issues and NO response so I left 2 days early.

Beach Retreat perfect for beach lovers.

Perfect location. Great accommodations for us. Very disappointed with the housekeeping. The floor was sandy and there was pet hair in many places. I swept the floor with a broom and ran the vacuum. I could not believe how much debris I picked up. Both coffee makers were badly in need of cleaning. Especially the Keurig. The cottage was very welcoming in size and comfort. The back porch was terrific. It had an excellent view of the beach and the ocean. The short walk to the beach gives the feel of a private location.

Another memorable holiday!

Another memorable holiday at the Beach Retreat. This is our go-to OBX getaway. The recent upgrades make it feel like a brand new place, while retaining that original beach cottage charm! And speaking of charm, Mark is one of the most gracious hosts you will ever meet. I can't say enough, except that our best kept secret is secret no more!

Glorious views and many updates to cottage

I felt like I was back in time. The cottage is so warm and inviting. The views are perfect. Private yet the view is fantastic. The kitchen is beautiful. I love the cafe curtains. The master bedroom mattress is very comfortable. I love hearing the ocean roar while going to sleep. So peaceful. Also so dog friendly. The deck has doggie gates. It was so nice to relax and not worry about them escaping. Mark is warm and quick to respond. I want to come back year after year. Make time to see the most Beautiful sunsets ever!

Location, location, location!

My second stay here, and the view from the porch can't be beat. Literally steps from the water. The house is clean and cute, perfect for those who need a smaller space. Nice cold AC. Responsive and friendly owner. Highly recommended.

Great Location

This property was great and probably one of the best places I stayed at while visiting OBX. Right on the beach - it was perfect for drinking coffee and watching the sunrise and hanging on the beach all day. It’s also super close to great restaurants and shopping. The home was clean and perfect size for my husband and pups. We will have to make another visit back as the weather didn’t quite cooperate, but we loved everything about this place.

Breathtaking piece of heaven

We wanted to take a last minute vacation and heard the OBX was an awesome place to go. Within minutes of finding this place, Mark was responding and we had it booked. The pictures don't do it justice...the view from the covered deck is amazing. We were able to watch a few surfers and dolphin pods while watching the ocean waves crash. Long work weeks...we deserved a chance to take a breath and got more. Our breath was taken away by the views. The cottage was clean and larger than we thought. The new stove and microwave made it easy to cook at our leisure. The sandbar is small so mobility issues are not as much an issue to get to the beach. In fact, if you can do 5 or 6 stairs, once inside you never have to leave because the deck overlooking the ocean is exactly what it says it is, close to water! Bring binoculars as it is fun to watch the dolphins and birds dive in the water.

Excellent location

The house is a great little 2 bedroom, perfectly located to step off of the porch and into the sand. A beach lovers dream. Mark was quick to respond with any questions or concerns. Definitely recommend for that old outer banks feel. Close to good restaurants

The Perfect Spot

For clarity and transparency, my wife, my dog, and I were the only occupants. This house was PERFECT. I know on occasion people are fooled are by photos or vague descriptions, but this was the opposite of that. The home was exactly as described and even better upon arrival. Right on the beach with a gorgeous deck to see the sunrise and sunset, perfectly furnished with a plenty of room for a family of 4 to 5. Professional and clean I hope to stay here again.

Heaven on Earth

This is an amazing place, steps from the water. With a covered and completely enclosed deck it's a fantastic place for our pup and to watch the spectacular sunrise each morning. Comfy beds, great shower, and plenty of room. The owner is great. Highly recommend!

Great getaway!

Beach Retreat is a great cottage, very convenient to everything we wanted: nice restaurants, antique stores, Duck, etc. We loved being able to just walk out the back porch and onto the beach! The property was well stocked with everything needed for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

Cute cottage, perfect location!

We could not have loved our stay more! The cottage was perfect for our family, kids, dogs. The recent updates were a great bonus. We felt at home and also perfectly relaxed on the back deck watching the sunrise and enjoying the best view! The deck was dog friendly and enclosed so we could all sit out there together. The location is perfect!

Needs maintenance and basic updates

The location is superb-right on the ocean and close to restaurants. The check in was frustrating as we expected a lock box on the door and it was elsewhere and we could not locate. No instructions to show how to operate the lock box. There was a major water leak under the kitchen sink that flooded the floor. There were two buckets under the sink for the water leak. The shower rod is rusty and towel rack missing. The vents for the ceiling duct work look as though they could fall. The heating/air was inconsistent for each room. The recliner was not stable and does not stayed reclined all the way. We expected an older property but not the condition it was in.

Cozy Solo Getaway!

I headed to the beach in search of solitude, and this cozy home delivered. The sunrise and sunset views were killer, and proximity to the beach doesn't get any better. The kitchen was well-appointed for home cooking, and bed was comfy. The home could use a little TLC but has all the basics covered. Mark was responsive when a small maintenance issue popped up, and I appreciated his quick communication.
