  • Una magnífica, elegante y lujosa casa de campo de ladrillo y pedernal de época situada justo en el corazón de este popular pueblo costero.

    Amueblado y equipado a un nivel extremadamente alto, 2 Dix Cottages es una delicia costera boutique, un retiro escondite perfecto para familias, parejas y amigos para disfrutar durante todo el año. La casa de campo tiene una sensación relajante y acogedora, es engañosamente espaciosa, cómoda, acogedora y cálida, con calefacción por bomba de calor con fuente de aire, que está debajo del piso en algunas habitaciones, y no solo una, sino dos, quemadores de leña; una para cada uno de los espacios habitables, para mantenerte cálido durante los meses más fríos.

    En la planta baja, realmente tienes donde elegir. Hay un fabuloso espacio abierto y una sala de estar sociable, que combina una cocina a medida equipada junto a áreas de estar y comedor. Con puertas francesas acristaladas que dan al jardín y ventanas a los tres lados de la habitación con vistas al jardín, la habitación está inundada de luz. Hay una habitación separada y silenciosa, también con puertas francesas hacia el jardín, que es ideal si desea leer un libro o ver un programa alternativo en el televisor. El cuarto de servicio / guardarropa en el vestíbulo de entrada también tiene espacio para una ducha, muy útil para cuando entra en la playa.

    Una escalera desde la sala de estar de planta abierta lo lleva al primer piso, donde hay dos habitaciones con baño (king size y dos camas individuales), un tercer dormitorio con la opción de camas king o dos camas individuales y un lujoso baño familiar con dos lavabos y fabuloso baño de rollo superior

    Ubicado en el medio del pueblo, 2 Dix Cottages está a las puertas de algunos lugares maravillosos para comer, desde el galardonado restaurante / pub Orange Tree (justo al lado de la carretera) y cenas de estilo bistró en The Thornham Deli hasta excelentes pescado y patatas fritas en Eric's y Shucks en The Yurt, ambos con sede en Drove Orchards justo en la periferia de la aldea. Si le gusta caminar y / o observar aves, tiene mucho donde elegir, con la ruta costera North Norfolk y Peddar's Way a la vuelta de la esquina, y Titchwell RSPB Reserve a poca distancia en auto. Thornham tiene su propia hermosa, a menudo desierta, amplia extensión de playa de arena.

Comfortable home in a great location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dix Cottages and would love to come back. It was spacious, comfortable, warm and ideally situated. The garden was large and pretty. We could walk to the three local pubs, the sea and Thornham Deli plus there were really enjoyable coastal walks close by too. We’ve stayed in a number of places along the coast over many years and we think this has been the best. Definitely recommend.

A very comfortable, beautifully furnished, well equipped and warm cottage. Bus stop just outside gate, no need to use car.

A nice stay in a wonderful village

The house is in a fantastic location in the heart of Thornham close to the pubs, deli and walks to Holmes Dunes and beyond. Whilst it is well equipped, we had a number of issue. The showers in the two on-suites are just dribbles of water. The pillows in some of the bedrooms are rather uncomfortable. Wi-Fi is intermittent. There is a lovely wood burner but no logs are left. There was just one pint glass in the house. It’s a pleasant house, but not one i would describe as luxurious.

House comments

The heating system leaves a lot to be desired, radiators were barely warm no matter what the thermostat was set at. Bedrooms were cold. The third bedroom was small and had nowhere to hang clothes. The location was ideal, pity about the above.

Lovely cottage

Thoroughly enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage in great location. Only downside was the weather but this did not deter us from walking out. Perhaps encourage owners to provide logs for wood burners? - but this is only a very minor point. Lifeboat pub - excellent food. Thank you

Lovely week in Thornham. Cottage is in a good location close to all amenities and some lovely walks. Cottage was comfortable with good sized garden for children to play in.

Minor irritations

Although the cottage, overall, suited us and was as described there were a few issues which would be quite easy to sort: - the door to bedroom 3 and its en-suite stuck and were difficult to close without slamming - the bottom drawer of the chest of drawers in bedroom 3 made so much noise when opening, it woke up the couple in the main bedroom! - the toilet rolls provided were so thin they were practically not fit for purpose, and we were not sure why they were left in the kitchen and not put in each bathroom - the central heating was very erratic and a couple of mornings and evenings the bedroom radiators never did heat up - why did we have to go out a buy an oven cloth? Fairly standard provision for a self catering property, I would have thought - only one light on the cooker hood worked. - it would be quite easy to create more parking space if 6 adults are able to book, rather than just families At present I would recommend with a proviso.

A great family house

This property proved to be exactly what we wanted for a family holiday. The fact that it has two sitting rooms meant that the children could disappear occasionally to either play with toys or watch television. Alternatively they could be in the same room when meals were being prepared etc. The garden is the real bonus - it is large and secure and big enough for ball games etc. All the seating and beds etc are very comfortable. Note to owners - some egg cups and a lemon squeezer would be useful additions

Perfect accommodation

Beautiful cottage with most amazing garden. Perfect space for spending a long awaited week with our family of 3 generations. Great location for visiting nearby areas, with plenty of gorgeous beaches and walks. Bonus having local pubs within walking distance to end the day! Thank you Norfolk Hideaways.

Holiday 2021

The location of this cottage is excellent, with good pubs serving good food one of our favourites was directly across the rd from the cottage, local farm shop within easy walking distance.the carpet in the dining area we felt needed a clean as it was stained.we Felt the walk from the parking area with bags could be a problem particularly for older visitors. However we would revisit

Beautiful cottage in Thornham, Norfolk

It was our fourth stay at No 2 Dix Cottages. It’s a beautiful cottage and we love the open plan kitchen/diner/lounge. On arrival, the heating had not been turned on and it was chilly but we soon got the log burner going. Previously, we would have been greeted with a bottle of wine and chocolates which was a lovely touch but I guess they are cutting back. Despite this, we enjoyed the convenience of 3 double rooms with bathrooms and also a downstairs sofa bed and bathroom. I had requested for the sofa bed to be put up because I had a leg injury but luckily my relatives arrived before me and were able to set it up. The cottage has a beautiful garden and we enjoyed watching all of the wildlife. Lovely meal at the Orange Tree just across the road.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dix cottage. Fantastic location in Thornham. Great walks, deli, farm shop, fish shop and pubs all close at hand. Made for a very relaxing week.

Four of us stayed Friday and Saturday evening and had a thoroughly great weekend. The location was lovely and the lunch in the Lifeboat pub was excellent. Would definitely recommend it to others.

A peaceful retreat and family holiday

The family have never been to Norfolk before and we didn't quite know what to expect. It is such a beautiful area with spectacular birding and wildlife. The beaches are very wide and golden, just right for our toddler grandson. We found so much to do that a week really wasn't enough so we will be back. The property was great for all generations and the large garden was well used for toddler bike rides and golf games as well as barbeques and breakfast in the sunshine. The house is well equipped and was never cold. We have all fallen in love with North Norfolk.
