Escape to Callahan's Shore Thing, a rustic modern, cozy cabin nestled on the water's edge of a gorgeous 2 acre lot with 100+ ft of lake frontage--minutes from downtown Hayward. You won't find a cabin this close to the water, we promise! Enjoy morning coffee on the spacious, multi-level deck, spend your days kayaking or fishing off our private pier, retreat to the seasonal bunkhouse to relax, or head out to our Musky Lounge to have a beer and play some cards with friends. This place has it all!



THE CABIN
A beautiful, cozy cabin with a modern, rustic aesthetic. The cabin is set on the water’s edge, mere steps from the shores of beautiful Callahan Lake—and is framed by an extra-large, two-tiered deck—where you can enjoy gorgeous sunrises and sunsets from the privacy of your deck and pier.

Living area—The main living area of the cabin is furnished with enough comfortable seating to accommodate your entire group, and all pieces face the two large picture windows displaying stunning views of the lake that are so close, it will make you feel as if you are almost floating on the water. This main living area also contains a beautiful high-end, Joybird brand queen sofa sleeper. We spared no expense on this sofa to ensure that it would be a restful place for anyone to sleep. There is a large armoire in the living area to store clothes and or personal belongings. The front corner of the living area has a custom crafted banquette for indoor dining, and can also be used as a cozy nook for a family game night or as a space to crack open the laptop and sneak in a little “work” when no one is looking.

Bedroom—The bedroom contains a Thuma brand queen-size bed with under bed storage and a small closet. Next to the cozy bed are two oversized nightstands with dedicated USB ports that can serve as extra storage for your personal belongings. This bedroom has its own dedicated HVAC unit to keep cozy on those chilly Northern nights, and to stay cool in the hot Hayward summer sun.

Kitchen area—The kitchen is well-appointed with a full-size refrigerator, beautiful quartz countertops, a gas oven and microwave, a pantry for all your snacks and food items, a dishwasher to make clean-up a little easier, and plenty of cabinets for storage. The kitchen contains everything you would need to make and serve a meal including plates, silverware, cups, bowls, and pots and pans galore. It also includes a cute little coffee station—with a high-end coffee maker capable of brewing both ground coffee as well as K-cups—so bring your favorite flavors!

Bathroom—The bathroom contains a full-size shower stall and a single vanity. Comfy bath towels are included for your convenience!

THE BUNKHOUSE-CLOSED FOR THE SEASON (REOPENS IN MAY 2026)
The Bunkhouse is a quaint, seasonal space containing two stacked single bunkbeds perfect for hanging out in the summer months. This space has heated floors, and a dresser for storage. It’s our personal fave—a perfect, quiet space to get away and take a vacation from your vacation!

THE MUSKY LOUNGE
The Musky Lounge is the ultimate party space! Outfitted with stunning glass garage doors so that you always have a view of the water, it features arcade games like Big Buck Hunter and Ms. Pac Man, along with an array of classic board games, and other fun things to pass the time with. This space includes a mounted, 70” flatscreen Smart TV, with a comfortable couch and seating area for hanging out and watching a movie or your favorite team win the big game! This room also features a whiskey barrel, high-top table made from wood sourced from a historic Hayward lumber mill. With seating for four around this classic piece—it’s perfect for a memorable poker night! The Musky Lounge also includes a small bar from where you can mix up your favorite Old Fashioned or Bloody Mary (depending on the time of day!), and a beverage cooler to hold all your favorite local beers. With a dedicated HVAC unit installed in the room, you can enjoy this space year round!

THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Let’s be honest—the main reason you probably booked our home is to take advantage of all the things we didn’t build or buy, so please allow us to tell you about some of the natural features of our place! Callahan’s Shore Thing sits on two pristine acres of the Wisconsin Northwoods, and contains over 100 feet of gorgeous lake frontage. A two-tiered, composite deck awaits your family and friends with enough room to enjoy a delicious meal overlooking the water, or provides the space to sit and dip your toes into the cool, clear waves of Callahan Lake. With a long tradition of being a haven for Musky fishing, Callahan Lake is big enough for all your favorite water activities, but not SO big that you can’t find a quiet place to dock your boat and take in a little sun or just enjoy watching the kids jump off “the Loose Caboose—” a classic ritual of summers on Callahan Lake. We have provided you with two kayaks and a paddleboard so you won’t even have to rent a boat to get out on the water, but should you decide to bring a boat—there is plenty of space on our private pier to dock it right at the property. (There is a boat launch less than a miles drive from the cabin). For the cool summer nights that Hayward is so famous for, you will enjoy sitting in one of the cozy Adirondack chairs nestled near our oversized fire pit—telling stories under the stars as the flames flicker bright and lasting memories are made!
