Welcome to 1878 RiverRun, a beautifully restored historic home in the heart of Hancock, Maryland, overlooking the C&O Canal and Western Maryland Rail Trail and just steps from the Potomac River.

Built in 1878 and thoughtfully updated for today's traveler, RiverRun combines historic character with modern comfort. The entire home is yours, featuring five private bedroom suites, each with its own full bathroom, a full kitchen, self-serve light breakfast, smart self-check-in, laundry, secure bicycle storage, and comfortable spaces to relax together.

For stays of 2 nights or longer, guests also enjoy access to our basement retreat featuring a hot tub, infrared sauna, game room, two large Smart TVs, pool, ping pong, air hockey, foosball, poker table, games, and more.

Whether you're cycling the C&O Canal or GAP Trail, enjoying a family getaway, traveling with friends, or simply looking for a comfortable place to recharge, RiverRun is designed to make the stay itself part of the experience.

THE HOME

Your reservation includes exclusive use of the guest areas of the home and all five suites, accommodating up to 12 registered guests.

CYCLISTS ARE ESPECIALLY WELCOME

RiverRun was designed with trail travelers in mind.

Store your bicycles in our secure enclosed bicycle storage area rather than worrying about leaving them outside. The space also includes e-bike charging, a bicycle repair area, and a convenient bike wash/rinse station to clean up after a day on the trail.

For the protection of the historic home's interior, bicycles are not permitted inside the main living areas.

RiverRun's location makes it especially convenient for travelers exploring the C&O Canal Towpath and Western Maryland Rail Trail, with the Potomac River nearby and restaurants, ice cream, shops, and other Hancock destinations within walking distance.

SELF-SERVE LIGHT BREAKFAST

Start the morning on your own schedule.

Our complimentary self-serve continental-style breakfast station features a rotating selection that may include oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit, bread and spreads, breakfast sandwiches, waffles and syrup, coffee, tea, and other convenient breakfast items.

Items are stocked in the refrigerator, freezer, or breakfast area, making it especially convenient for early risers and cyclists looking to get back on the trail.

We do not serve a traditional cooked breakfast, but guests are welcome to use the full kitchen during their stay.

HOT TUB + SAUNA + GAME ROOM

Available exclusively with reservations of 2 nights or longer. Basement access is not included with one-night reservations.

After a day on the trail or exploring the area, head downstairs and unwind.

The basement recreation area features:

RiverRun offers convenient smart self-check-in. Before arrival, registered guests will receive instructions and access information for the home and designated guest areas.

The primary renter must be 25 years of age or older and is responsible for the reservation and all members of the group.

A completed short-term rental agreement and required booking/identity verification are conditions of the reservation. Instructions will be provided after booking.

PARKING

Free public parking is conveniently available near the property.

A public EV charging station is also available nearby; charging fees may apply.

IMPORTANT HOUSE POLICIES

We want RiverRun to remain a peaceful, exceptionally comfortable place for every guest. Please review these policies before booking.

Maximum Occupancy: The property accommodates a maximum of 12 registered guests, including children. Only guests included on the reservation are permitted on the property. Unregistered visitors are not permitted.

No Parties or Events: Parties, events, receptions, unauthorized gatherings, or similar activities are not permitted.

Quiet Hours: Please observe quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM and be considerate of our neighbors.

No Pets: Pets are not permitted.

No Smoking or Vaping Indoors: Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the home and enclosed guest areas.

Bicycles: Bicycles must be stored in the designated secure bicycle storage area and are not permitted in the home's main living areas.

Hot Tub & Sauna: Guests must follow all posted safety and operating instructions. No glass is permitted in or around the hot tub. Children must be appropriately supervised. Soaps, oils, bath products, and similar substances may not be added to the hot tub. Basement amenities are available only with stays of 2 nights or longer.

Property Care: Please treat this historic home and its furnishings with care and leave the property in reasonably tidy condition. Guests are responsible for damage caused by themselves or members of their party. Please report accidental damage promptly so we can address it.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Reservations cancelled at least 5 days before the scheduled check-in date receive a full refund.

Cancellations made within 5 days of check-in are non-refundable.

IMPORTANT: Any applicable VRBO platform policies or protections will also apply and supersede reservations made through VRBO.

RENTAL AGREEMENT

Completion of RiverRun's short-term rental agreement is required after booking. The agreement confirms the reservation terms, occupancy, house policies, and responsibilities of the primary renter.

Instructions for completing the agreement and any required booking verification will be sent after the reservation is made.

SECURITY & PRIVACY

For guest safety, property security, and protection of our historic home, exterior security cameras are located around exterior areas of the property, including the front porch and exterior side/rear areas.

Cameras monitor exterior areas only.

There are no security cameras inside the home or private guest areas.

BICYCLE & PERSONAL PROPERTY DISCLOSURE

Although RiverRun provides a designated secure enclosed bicycle storage area, guests remain responsible for their bicycles and personal belongings. RiverRun is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to bicycles or other personal property stored at or brought onto the property.

- No Pets: While we adore animals, we are unable to accommodate pets to maintain a clean and allergen-free environment for all guests.
- Respect Quiet Hours (10:00 PM - 8:00 AM): To ensure everyone can enjoy a restful stay, please observe quiet hours between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM by keeping noise levels to a minimum.
- No Parties or Events: Parties and large gatherings are strictly prohibited to preserve a peaceful atmosphere for all our guests.
- Clean Up After Yourself: We'd like to ask that you tidy up after yourself.
- Damages: Please treat our home with the same care you would your own. Please report any damages immediately so we can address them promptly.
