  • Our home, our legacy... your playground and escape. Your home away from home. This beautiful 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, lake facing and lake shore property sleeps 8-10 comfortably. Spacious and fully equipped open kitchen. Loft suite with King bed and walk in shower. 2 main floor bedrooms and bathroom and one bedroom and bath on the lower level. Open floor plan. Very large deck, patio, gas grill and seating for eight or more. Washer & Dryer on lower level.

    NOTE: Our nightly rate is based upon 8 guests for your stay. Any additional guests incur an extra charge of $40 per night, per guest, to account for the extra cleaning, linens and towels necessary during their stay.

    There is 85 feet of sandy beach and lake shore just steps from the front door. Dock available for securing your boat and fish house for cleaning fish. Birch Lake is incredibly clear and suitable for swimming, fishing, jet skiing, and boating. Bass, Northerns, Walleye, Crappies and Sunny's can all be caught on Birch Lake. The public landing is just 1 mile from our dock.

    Birch Lake never disappoints with beautiful sunsets summer or winter. Within walking distance from our home is the beautiful Paul Bunyan State Trail, a multi-use recreational rail trail running between the cities of Brainerd and Bemidji. Named after the giant lumberjack Paul Bunyan of American folklore, the trail is the longest continuously paved trail in the United States. Excellent for biking, hiking, in-line skating and snowmobiling.

    Hackensack is walking distance from the home and the locals welcome the opportunity to share Mark's Market grocery store, Swansons Bait Shop, weekly meat raffles at the American Legion, the best Hardware store, pickle ball courts, disc frisbee and the central town playground for youngsters. When not on the lake check out Rendezvous Brewing, Barrel & Vine, The Dipper, Sun & Fun and so much more!
    Walker is just 20 minutes north and is home to many shops and eating establishments. Be sure to check out Northern Lites Casino, Green Scene, Lundrigans, and so many fun shops.

    Winter in this home brings a whole new level of serenity! It is beautiful and quiet. The perfect place to rest, reflect and share comfort food over meaningful conversations, fires on the snow covered beach or fireplace and catching up on long awaited book reading. Perfect for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice-fishing and more. Cozy and intimate this is one of the most beautiful times of year to celebrate.

Our Early Summer Northwoods Retreat

This is our second 2 week stay at Odie's and we love it!!! The proximity to Hackensack and Walker are a big selling point for us. Our growing family appreciates the location and amenities. We equally enjoy the inside and outside facilities! A quiet well equipped, serene spot.

We absolutely love Odie's Place and would love to come back again for a third time! They have all the kitchen stuff you need, fishing poles/life jackets, beach toys, yard games, indoor board games, movies... the works! Highly recommend! Beautiful views and locations.

This was our third stay at Odie's Place, and we absolutely love it here. The cabin fits our family growing family perfectly. Each of our adult children and their spouses enjoy the location, especially Birch Lake and its proximity to Hackensack and the nearby town of Walker.Odie’s Place is well-stocked, super ammenities and offers the perfect blend of convenience, natural beauty, and comfort. We especially appreciate the lovely beach area, dock, and outdoor gathering spaces. The lake is wonderful, and Odie’s makes it even better!

We enjoyed another great stay at Odie’s Place. Plenty of space for everyone on three levels with a view that can’t be beat. They have thought of everything you need in the kitchen and the extra fridge/freezer in the garage comes in handy. The beach area is great for reading, floating/paddle boarding and camp fires. We enjoyed the patio and deck area as well. Everyone could enjoy a meal together at the huge kitchen table or have multiple games going on at once. Communication with the hosts has always been exceptional. Odie’s Place is truly special.

Beautiful home in Hackensack

Sept 28-Oct 1st 2023 We had such a wonderful time @ your Beautiful home It had everything you could possibly need.The view of the lake & sunsets were absolutely perfect ! The owners were wonderful to work with .We definitely will be back the 6 of us. Check out the town in Walker fun town for shopping & golfing & the drive is only 15 minutes. Great lake home for families.

Very clean and spacious home. It was well-stocked with everything we needed (although you may want to bring a few rolls of TP). Lovely outdoor spaces to enjoy. The lake was great for swimming. We rented a boat for 3 days of our time there and had good fishing. It's very close to a paved bike trail that takes you to Hackensack in just a few minutes. Our family had a wonderful time.

Good times at Odie's Place super spot!

We enjoyed this clean and very well equipped cabin. Our entire family 8 adults and our grandaughter were comfortable. The cabin is so close to town and the bike trail. All the appliances and untensils we needed were available. Comfortable and spacious, great neighbors beautiful interior and exterior. Birch Lake is gorgeous.and we love the view from inside the cabin. We hope to be back next year.

First Vrbo experience

After a shaky start, everything after went as I had hoped. The cabin was beautiful and everything we needed was available except we ran out of toilet paper and paper towels which we expected with 14 people. We enjoyed ourselves very much.

Great Place for a Family get Away

Every summer my husband’s side of the Family does a long weekend away together at a rent on the lake. Odie’s Place was an amazing place to stay!!!! They have all the amenities you could need. Bedrooms were comfy, the decks are so nice. Many times we were out sitting and visiting on the deck. The beach was incredible, water was clear for swimming, and the host had plenty of chairs to relax in! There was a fire pit as well on the beach which is always a favorite of mine to be sitting on the beach at night listening to the wave while sitting by the fire.The host is great and very quick to respond. Defiantly a place we would like to stay at again!

Odie's Place is an Oasis

I have stayed at Odie's Place in the middle of winter and summer - both were magical experiences. The tall pines covered with snow while the fire crackled was amazing. The private beach and lovely outdoor sitting areas provided the perfect summer relaxation and fun setting. The house itself is so beautiful, organized, well appointed, and comfortable. They have everything you need for a super fun family get away. We also recommend driving to Walker for the Thursday morning farmers market - best in the state!! Music, great artists and local vendors. Walker has many great artisans so don't miss browsing the small shops in town too!

Wonderful Getaway

This is our 2nd year and Odie’s Place and once again it was a wonderful experience. Such a peaceful, relaxing cabin and space. The owners have thought of everything you could ever need from the kitchen to the bedrooms and bathrooms to the children’s area and beach/lake options. The beach area is a great spot to read a book or enjoy the water or just take a nap in the hammock. The deck and patio are an added bonus and a great place to enjoy a quiet morning read or evening cocktail. Communication with the owners is also easy and clear and it it obvious they care a great deal that everyone has an amazing experience during their stay. We have been renting cabins for over 20 years and can’t recommend Odie’s Place highly enough. Can’t wait to come back next summer!

Beautiful and Relaxing

This was our third trip to Odie’s Place and once again enjoyed a lovely week despite some cold, rainy weather. The cabin itself is so accommodating with 3 different levels to give everyone some space when spending days indoors and the huge table was perfect for games-we often had 2 games going in at the same time with plenty of space. There are also lots of options for spending time outdoors as well-with a deck, patio with seating and gas fire table and beach area. We brought our boat and enjoyed some time crusading the lake and fishing. We have been renting cabins for over 30 years and these owners have really thought of everything and they are always quick to respond to questions-definitely top notch.

Loved it

Property was even better than pictured, so nice to have so many hang out areas, lots of chairs, big grill, nice beach area, lots of life jackets/floaties/beach toys/nice dock area. Kids loved the swimming area and had great time fishing. Kitchen was beautiful, easy spot to work in with many cooks. Second fridge in garage was clean and convenient. Super convenient and easy access to Paul Bunyan State Trail and town. Our 4 year old had an easy time making the distance. The road that the cabin is on was nice and quiet, truly such a peaceful spot to enjoy the long weekend. Even the lake itself wasn’t super busy. Wonderful hosts to work with, we will definitely be back.
