The location is a reasonable distance from the busy city of Porto over the river, while still being very accessible on the Gaia side, near the port wine cellars. We booked a studio room overlooking the Douro River with a stunning balcony view of the Luís I Bridge that we had to see to believe. "The staff is very pleasant and helpful! A nice downhill 15-20 min walk will bring you where the action is in old Porto by the river! The property is thoughtfully laid out with an inviting garden and interesting art work in the hallways. The washroom is clean and modern. The kitchenette is cute and functional. Great job team 705!"

"The Hotel was struggling with Aircon issues. Our room did not really cool despite the system roaring full blast all night. Not a great sleep. Also, not keen at all on the ‘vegetable’ toiletries! Parsley stem soap and Kale shampoo… who wants to smell like a cabbage?! Staff were as helpful as they could be within their limits. I did suggest during this heatwave, a welcome ‘jug of iced water’ on reception would be a nice welcome gesture on checking in."

"This was our first visit to Portugal, and Porto Palácio Hotel gave us a wonderful first impression. The entrance is beautiful and grand, and check-in was quick and seamless. We arrived early, so the hotel stored our luggage and invited us to enjoy a complimentary drink and nuts at the rooftop bar while we waited. The panoramic views over Porto were incredible, especially at sunset. Our room was spacious, comfortable and easy to navigate. The toilet and bath/shower being in separate rooms worked...

"Cons 1. Hairdryer was jammed when we checked in & the head had to be replaced as it was inoperable due to hair jammed into the head of the hairdryer. 2. The website says air-conditioned rooms but staff informed they are air cooled.The first night was very sweaty & uncomfortable to get sleep. Staff asked us to open the window for ventilation.This wasn't an option as this overlooks a highway & lot of traffic noise. 3. The hotel is located in Gais & requires Bolt & Uber for any Porto related...
