The Space:

Stunningly situated atop the rugged ocean bluffs, Misty Rose enjoys spectacular views of the open ocean and the dramatic shoreline of the Northern California Coast. Throughout its single-level living space, this oceanfront property offers floor-to-ceiling windows, an open, airy design, and such little luxuries as gas fireplaces and jetted bathtubs (including one that overlooks the water). Fit in a quick workout on the exercise equipment in the ocean-facing sunroom or grab a seat on the double-sided deck just in time for sunset.

This oceanfront home enjoys private neighborhood access to Seaside Beach down below, with MacKerricher Beach less than a mile south on Highway 1 and MacKerricher State Park and Ten Mile Beach just beyond. The heart of downtown Fort Bragg is nine miles south, where you can take a scenic ride on the Skunk Train, tour the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, and stop in for a pint at North Coast Brewing. Nine miles further south is the village of Mendocino - the home of Cafe Beaujolais, Mendocino Headlands State Park, and several lovely shops and art galleries.

  • Glass Beach is a beach in MacKerricher State Park near Fort Bragg, California, that is abundant in sea glass created from years of dumping garbage into an area of coastline near the northern part of the town. Once upon a time the sand was coated in brightly colored bits of sea glass, and social media is full of photos that make it look as if the sand still looks that way, but that isn't the case. Over the years the public has raided the beach of much of its glass. Now at first look, some might say it looks like any other ordinary beach. Yes you can still find glass here, but you have to look for it, and most of colored glass is long gone. It all makes for a fun little treasure hunt however! Such an amazing stay!! Didn’t matter how cold or foggy it was outside, you can enjoy the beauty right in front of you through all the windows! Nice quiet neighborhood and really close to downtown Fort Bragg! Any small issues that came up were promptly addressed. Communication was excellent. Just sad they are selling the house. In a perfect world, I would have been able to buy it but just very grateful we had the 8 days to enjoy it!!

Filthy and buggy

Property would be nice if there were no bugs, if the urine were removed from the carpet and IF THE WINDOWS WERE CLEANED. Unhappy with Vacasa as the continually asked for money, demanded we pay if we arrived before 4PM.They demanded final payment several times weeks before it was due.Then they sent several messages "reminding " us to vacate before 10 AM or face additional charges.Called to let them know we were gone and couldn't get anyone to answer or call.

Yearly Trip to Northern California

Every January I travel to Northern California to visit my family and return to my childhood home. Fort Bragg is always on my itinerary for at least 3 or 4 days.I have begun bringing others with me so they may enjoy my adventures.This is my first time staying at the Misty Rose. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return next year.It is an awesome experience!

Everything was great, except could not get the TV the dishwasher and fireplace to Work granted we are a couple of senior 65+ ladies. The views were wonderful beds were comfortable. Would love to come back.

Amazing

This is a beautiful home with views of the ocean from each room in the house. It provides room for your guests to enjoy eating at a large table in the kitchen to plenty of spaces to sit and talk and just relax. I would recommend this home to everyone!

What to bring

The views were fantastic! Just a couple things for future patrons. Bring coffee grounds, there was a coffee maker and filters but no coffee. Also bring your own spices or cooking spray.. for cooking meals. We borrowed a small ice chest for day excursions so that was nice. The views and location was worth every penny! Views from almost all rooms! We were able to check in early so watch for that notice in your email. If you need to contact Vacasa just call them don't rely on texts. Also, a couple houses down you will find stairs/gate leading down to a beach. Will stay again!

Amazing Views!

The house is in a great location - amazing ocean views, a short neighborhood walk down to the beach, quick drive to town. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay. The furniture is a bit dated, but the couches are comfy. The bed in the master bedroom is a bit firm, but the kids said the other beds were comfortable. The wifi was really slow, but it made us unplug a bit. :)

Lack of customer support

We lost power, water and heat for our second day due to a storm. I needed assistance, I requested several times that I get a phone call. The manager woul randomly reply with a text saying “power outage, thank you” I was extremely disappointed and give customer support and service a 0 out of 10

Great location with well equipped kitchen.

The master suites were very nice, great views, with a well-equipped kitchen. The front door lock box was problematic, and the flue in the master suite had a metallic/clanking sound when breezy outside.

Beautiful views, house needs upkeep

First off, don’t advertise and charge a hot tub fee when the hot tub isn’t working and you know it isn’t. They did credit us some of the $ after I pointed this fact out. This was our honeymoon trip and specifically looked for a place with a hot tub so that was very disappointing. While it has 2 jetted bath tubs, one of the tubs the jets doesn’t work in and the other one has a broken handle on the hot water. Speaking of hot water, you have 15 minutes tops before the water is cold. The oven is a pointless amenity, unless you have hours to wait for it to heat and cook your food. The house looks beautiful and the views and privacy are amazing. Fix the problems that tons of other people have also pointed out and this would be an AMAZING spot.

Amazing Views with plenty of room

Beautiful views...private access to beach...very clean and kitchen is very well equipped. Hot tub is amazing....I definitely would recommend booking.... it was wonderful, relaxing, and has easy access to beach, not far from home away from home.

Misty Rose had a-lot of comfort issues

I went for reviews of this place on VRBO, but we did not have the stay we were looking forward to. PROS: The house sits on a bluff overlooking the ocean which is breathtaking. CONS: BOTH fireplaces were out during our stay. The fireplace in the master bedroom is the only heat source so it was 50 degrees the 1st night we stayed. Property management VACASSA is next to impossible to contact, but I managed to do it in a text message on my phone. The solution to the fireplace was a portable floor heater since the maintenance person said the wind blows the pilot light out. The well on the property is going out. Water pressure surges while water is on and vibrates the pipes throughout the home. The well sits behind the master bedroom with the bad fireplace so every time the water would come on it would make this constant loud clicking noise. Hot tub has been poorly repaired. Although it worked for us you will notice the side was tore apart for repair work. The repair would be one side of the jets on the spa no longer works. Seems as if the jet pipe(s) broke, so they plugged it off only making 3 sides of the spa work. They do not do a very good job of cleaning for the cost you pay for the cleaning fee. Other than that, we enjoyed ourselves. The views can't be beat, but I don't think it was worth the price we paid for 2 nights there.

Beautiful house, great location, some issues

I will start with the good: The house is absolutely beautiful, in a great, secure neighborhood right on the ocean. Access to the beach is not directly behind the house but is about half a mile to the north off the highway, still an easy 8 mile trip into town. Check in process was painless. 3 rooms with comfortable beds and nice bathrooms, it was completely spotless inside, cleaned very well prior to our arrival. I was notified prior to arrival that the hot tub was out of commission which was a bummer but I get that things sometimes happen. Host stated I would be refunded a portion of the fees but I never saw that happen. The first night at the house we bought a ton of groceries to make dinner and then found out that the oven would not heat past roughly 250 degrees which made it impossible to cook the food we had purchased. There was a BBQ that allowed some steak to be cooked but we could not bake any sides to go with it. I messaged the host through VRBO/Vacasa about this issue but never received a reply at all. The next issue we found out about the hard way was that when the fridge closes it props the freezer open slightly, after the first night all of the groceries we had in the freezer were spoiled. We ended up throwing a lot of food away on the trip and eating meals in town as opposed to cooking which added additional expense and the inconvenience of driving into town to do so. All in all I would stay here again but would hope that the issues with appliances were fixed. Noting these issues to hopefully save someone the spoilage of food or finding out the hard way that they cannot cook.
