River House-Retreat!

It's River Time! Our Property sits directly on the North Fork of the Consumnes River. With private-direct access to the River for Swimming, Kayaking, Canoeing, Snorkeling or Tubing. Allow the healing properties of this Sierra fed River heal your soul. The River is mostly fed by the Sierra SnowPack melt, with some natural mountain creeks also feeding the River. Eventually the Rivers flows into the Mokelumne River and ultimately into the Pacific Ocean "via" the San Joaquin Delta.

The Property is well appointed with everything needed for a weekend or full week of family entertainment. BBQ Grill (Plumbed to Large Propane Tank), Hot Tub, High Speed Internet, Streaming Movie Services, Pac Man Video Game (for the kids) and a fully stocked Kitchen.

There is simply no other property offering the type of Private River Access. Most all rooms of the Property provide an incredible view of the River.

Great stay! Need to know what the scent is in their air wick plug-ins! Cabin has everything you need. Blender, coffee maker, crock pot. Beautifully remodeled. Luxury in a cabin! We will definitely be back.

We had a truly magical time at the River House for a weekend birthday getaway with our two young children. We chose the location for its proximity to Apple Hill (a 30 minute drive) figuring we could visit the farms early in the day and relax at the house in the afternoons/evenings. The house is very clean and well-appointed with a fully stocked kitchen, and comfortable beds and furniture. The outdoor space is impressive, with an expansive deck that overlooks a beautiful stretch of the Cosumnes River. The best part is the private river access just steps from the back door. We had a blast playing in the river, which had a gentle current and was only about 3-4 feet deep. The kids appreciated the bunk beds, PacMan and games in their room, and taking walks around the property marveling at the wildlife. We saw fish, a family of river otters, turkeys, hawks, deer, lizards, bats, and owls.The adults appreciated the hot tub (complete with mood lighting and a waterfall!) and crisp mornings sipping coffee on the deck watching the sun rise over the hills beyond the river.John was a diligent and caring host. He sent us easy check-in instructions in advance of our trip. When we arrived, he was quick to answer a question I had about connecting to the internet (our fault, not his). Thanks John for sharing the River House with us. We’ll be back!

From easy check in to locking up it was a wonderful stay. The interiors looked to all be freshly remodeled. Kitchen had all that we needed, including ample pantry space. Lots of seating, inside and out including down at river level. Spacious bedrooms all had beautiful furniture. We will definitely book this house again.

Lovely stay in Amador Wine country

Property was perfect for us as a family and very close to many wineries. Nothing negative to say - the house was clean and the owner was very proactive in communication with me. Would happily stay again!

Fantastic Peaceful Getaway

Lovely house inside and outside. The house was nicely appointed and the decor was done thoughtfully. The kitchen is fully furnished with cooking utensils, dishes, cookware, etc. It was also nice to have the BBQ grills available for grilling dinner. We also really enjoyed sitting by the fire pit to wind down the night. The beds were comfortable and the house was clean. While all these features would entice us return, the location right on the river has us talking about our next trip there! It was glorious to spend the warm day floating in the water and melting away the stresses of life! We will definitely return.

Amazing gem in paradise

Spent 3 nights here with my mom, 20 and 16 year old sons. Everyone of us enjoyed our stay. My 16 year old son loved the double bunk beds, pac man game and board games. The 20 year old enjoyed using the charcoal grill. My mom loved the hot tub. I wanted to move in to that master suite. We all loved the river! The river was a little shallow but calm and relaxing. Weather was perfect (july). The home is well equipped, kitchen supplies, gadgets, towels, shampoo, conditioner and other basics which was super helpful as i forgot some things. I cant say enough good things about this place. It is so spacious inside and out! Lots of seating and comfy furniture throughout! Great communication from the host. I will definitely be back!

True to listing

Very nice place near several cute little downtowns. No issues with the place which was very clean and well provisioned. The only watch out is the river. The rock are covered in moss and there is no shade so not ideal if you hope for days playing on the water.

Another great stay

This is our second consecutive year staying at the river house and it was wonderful for both visits. Very quiet property with lots of space. Outside is also wonderful as you have direct access to the Consumnes River. My kids really enjoy the room they get to stay in, as it has some cool bunk beds and a Pac-Man arcade cabinet to keep them entertained. Kitchen worked great for us to prepare multiple meals for breakfast and dinner, and I was able to use outside grill with no issues for a tasty Friday night BBQ meal. When not at the property we were able to visit Placerville and other surrounding towns very easily. Great stay for all of us, and I plan to visit again in the future!

Exactly what we were hoping for

Great house

We really enjoyed our stay at the River House and was impressed with it - the pictures were nice online, but the real thing is even better. One can tell when a property is prepped for VRBO only - cheap beds, minimum furniture, etc - well, this house is NOT like that! Lots of LOVE went into the house and the fact that the owner has their cabinet there locked, means that they also enjoy the house themselves - not just "out there to make a buck." The kitchen is very well equipped and both the sofas and beds are motorized (we did not even know until we read about it), like in a first class plane cabin. The river is great and it's a stone-throw away - right behind the house! We also met a couple neighbors and they are very nice folks. The house is next to a highway but it is not noisy at all (very sparse traffic and almost no traffic at night). We would (and probably will) go back here! John was also very helpful and very easy to communicate with. And finally, we liked the small memos here and there - such as which switch turns what - very helpful.

Sweet Spot !!

Absolute perfect place to get away from the rat race. Location just far enough away to enjoy the peacefulness of nature and still close enough to get necessities. Lake is perfect for young and old.

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would definitely book again. Only steps from the river, house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Communication was excellent with owner for questions and we left a few items behind that was mailed to use the very next day.

Very nice and comfortable stay! The river was perfect for a family with kids.

This house was great! It had everything you could need and was very clean! The river was nice and calm and we enjoyed swimming around and watching deer in the yard! I would definitely stay here again.

Very peaceful environment

The lazy river creates quite a presence. Can be fun in the day, peaceful at night and in early morning. The house has the basics and a good bbq set up. Owner is very nice and accommodating.

Hot Tub was broken

We chose this home because of the hot tub and large bathtub. We were asked to not use the tub because of the drought. And the hot tub was not working. Also was quite noisy outside because of the traffic. Was very disappointed!

3rd stay, and still as amazing!

Our family of 4 just stayed at this beautiful property again, for the 3rd time in 18 months and it’s still just as amazing as our 1st and 2nd stay. Staying at this river home has now become our family tradition, and we go at least once or twice a year. It’s a perfect getaway/ escape from the everyday hustle of work, school, etc. it’s nestled in a perfect spot to simply relax. We play music outside, hang by the river during the day, and hot tub at night. The fire pit for nightly s’mores is also one of our kiddos fav. John and his wife are fantastic hosts and makes booking, check in, and anything else you need absolutely seamless. I’m just so grateful that we found this place, and look forward to continuing this tradition with our kids, yearly. If you’re debating whether you should book, I would say do it. You will not regret it.

I wanna go back!

This place was amazing! The house is pristine AND comfortable! It has everything you can think of you might need from kitchen to bathroom to laundry!!! My son and I loved the river and the wildlife. We sat down there for hours. My adult daughter and the baby loved the packman machine, but not as much as I did 😁 The furniture was 100% great! I have zero complaints. I didn't want to leave.

Magical River House

The river house is a magical place with lots of healing sounds from the birds and the River. Upon entering the open entry way, you will see just how special this home is. The attention to detail is top notch from the little signs in the restrooms to the labels letting you know where items are or what they are! We had the most amazing vacation this past weekend (4/21-4/24/2022). However, due to weather we were not able to enjoy the outdoors as much as we would have liked too, but the home is so comfortable and clean that we enjoyed lounging around. PLUS, there beds are heavenly! I have not slept this well in ages. Waking up to seeing and hearing the River was such an added bonus. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need to cook, the dinning area was fully stocked with wines glasses, China plates and more. John spared no expensive in making the River house a 5-star retreat and it is a must see! We are already trying to figure out when we can return in the summer. The neighbor was really nice too! Can’t wait to go back for another relaxing vacation. John is very responsive and helpful as well! Do not miss out on this lovely home, book today for your next vacation!
