My wife and I put our hearts into our "Forever Home". We have paid special attention to the detail in each room. We have done our very best to create a place that is aesthetically calming as well as pleasantly functional. A larger park like setting front yard with a cedar glider on the porch makes for a pleasant morning coffee watching the birds, squirrels and bunnies or an evening lemonade watching the sun go down. Because it is a preferable corner lot (one very kind neighbor next door) on a dead end street (low low foot traffic) the side yard and back patio are very nice places for semi private entertaining and outside eating. Our hope is that you find your stay as pleasant as possible and have designed the house with comfort in mind. Here are some of the amenities that you can expect.

Best of all its clean! Which means between guests we personally wash all of our linens, blankets, towels, wash cloths and more. We disinfect handles and faucets and anything we might consider handled.

We also invite guests to rent one of our fine well maintained vehicles for 10% off the already low price compared to commercial car rental agencies. After you rent just give us a call and we will see whats available.

Comfortable home away from home

Our stay was comfortable and quiet - everything we needed for our visit. We loved the cozy and charming environment, especially the little electric fireplace. We love to cook and it was a well-equipped kitchen. Close to everything we needed. Very friendly and helpful host!

Lovely home

There are so many lovely things in this home -- there are stained glass windows, interesting plates, chandeliers, plus lots of other features. Like a bedroom full of books and puzzles a child would love, with its own Playstation and a wall-mounted TV. Plus a big TV in the den area, as well as a small one wall-mounted in the larger bedroom. My husband could set up his work computer on the breakfast room table, and it does have a stacking washer/dryer, as well as a dishwasher, microwave and more. It isn't a large house, but is much larger than a hotel room. We were there 9 days, and used it as a good base of operations. It was a comfortable and memorable place to stay.

Home on a Tree Lined Street

I enjoyed staying at this home which was located in a safe residential neighborhood on a tree lined street. Enjoyed my morning coffee sitting on the front porch glider observing the black squirrels and landscaped flowers. The location is good with supermarkets, restaurants and pharmacies located within one half mile. The airport is also in close proximity. Found the home to be clean, well equipped and comfy. I would definitely recommend the Sugar Shack to anyone seeking a home away from home.

Attractive, comfortable, lovely quiet surroundings

Delightful home, conveniently located. All desired amenities present and bed most comfortable. Jim and Kathy were so friendly and helpful...excellent hosts. The fresh tomatoes were a real bonus! We would for sure stay here again.

Clean updated home in quiet neighborhood

First of all Jim and Kathy were great throughout the process! They were prompt to answer any and all questions while we were considering the property and after we booked. They made sure that we had everything we needed for our family (two adults and three children). The bedrooms were comfortable and the bathroom and kitchen were very nice. We had all the comforts of home and were able to prepare meals and pack lunches for most of our outings, as well as do laundry. The neighborhood is very quiet and the nearby park was great to walk to when the kids needed a little exercise. The Kroger store was very convenient for groceries and it was a quick scoot over to the Henry Ford or Greenfield Village. We did not spend a great deal of time at the house itself, since we were running most of the time, but when we were there it had everything we needed. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely stay again when we come to visit family in the Detroit area.

Owners were very nice and enthusiastic about the whole thing!

The house is perfect for a family. Spacious and open layout inside and out. My husband, I and 3 of our kids were very comfortable and all loved it. Well worth it.
