Custom built in 2015 - Welcome to "The Sanctuary". Sitting on an elusive 1 acre lot in the heart of Del Mar with a food forest to eat organic fruits right in the backyard.

This sprawling estate is secured with 5 foot fencing surrounding the home, and is where we live year-round and rent out so we have forced vacations, so we only accept renters wiling to take care of it and respect it. Read the reviews to see what other people are saying! Solar heated pool and hot tub. Indoor and outdoor fireplaces. 5 flat screen TVs and 14 speakers throughout the home controlled with an App.

Vaulted ceilings with exposed beams illuminate the open concept family room, dining room and kitchen that has a fully retractable door that opens up to your covered outdoor living space and BBQ. This home is the dream living space. 20 min walk to the racetrack and 10 min bike ride to the beach. Right next to a great hiking spot.

4 bedroom 4.5 baths with 3 car garage - FEATURING lagoon style saltwater pool, hot tub and waterfall. Lots of fun adult activities such as pool table, dart board, ping pong table, and board games. Secured dog run area on side of home. We also recently got a baby goat, a sheep, and Great Pyrenese dog to watch the mini petting zoo we have and they all live in a separate gated section of the back yard. You don't have to do anything to take care of them, but you can definitely play with them. They are sweethearts! We also have a few chickens, and they sleep up in the trees and lay eggs around the yard in different spots. We also are in the process of building a ninja warrior outdoor play structure as well. Home currently has 1 pack and play crib that can be used and 2 queen blow up beds as well.

Bar room comes with pool table, dart board, organic tea bar ready to make the perfect drink or you can use our guitar, bongo and other instruments and have a late night jam session.

Primary bedroom is fit for royalty and can only be summed up with the one word...Romance. Equipped with direct access to the pool this main room includes a king size bed that can be inclined and set to massage. Spa inspired primary bath that has a soaking spa tub and separate dual rain shower heads and a primary closet almost as big as all the other bedrooms.

3 car garage includes ping pong table and a gym with a squat rack, punching bag, full dumbbell set, and more along with workout videos, YouTube TV, and Apple TV to watch your favorite game while having fun and working out while you overlook the water.

Property sits on 1 acre and so much to explore with our growing fruit trees and beautiful landscaping. We have begun cultivating a food forest, also called a forest garden, in our backyard. A food forest is a diverse planting of edible plants that attempts to mimic the ecosystems and patterns found in nature. There is lettuce, kale, strawberries, celery, edible flowers, dill, mint, and so much more growing any many places. Feel free to harvest whatever seems ready to eat!

Family Vacation in San Diego

This was a wonderful home in perfect proximity to all of the things we wanted to do in the area. My family enjoyed everything the home had to offer from the pool to the trampoline. I highly recommend.

Couldn't have picked a better spot!

We booked this home for the week before my son's wedding, and it was perfect for our crew of eight. The location was ideal, with plenty of privacy and no worries about bothering neighbors if we got a little loud and stayed up late - and we did! The gym, ping-pong, billiards, pool/sauna, surfboards, and putting green were used daily and kept everyone busy. The house is spacious and spread out, well equipped with everything you need, and the goats were hilarious. If you have a large group that likes to have fun and get a little loud, this is the only choice in Del Mar. The beach is close, and so is the village - perfect location. Shavon and her husband responded instantly and were great hosts! Thanks for a great week!

Beautiful home with something for everyone

This beautiful and very private home has everything we could possibly need! Great basics including a very well equipped kitchen. The swimming pool, putting green, pool table, musical instruments, books and toys for the kids made our time spent there lots of fun. It's away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to town to enjoy the many attractions of the Del Mar and greater San Diego area. Shavon is an exceptional host!!

Great Place

This is a great home in an excellent location. It’s close to shopping, groceries, and good restaurants. The home is well-stocked with essentials and equipped with pretty much anything someone would need on a vacation. The beds are comfortable and the layout of the rooms within the house is perfect for a family of various age ranges. The pool was at a comfortable temperature throughout the day (July), and the jacuzzi was absolutely perfect for the chilly nights. If you’re someone who is accustomed to ceiling fans, this house doesn’t have any. So, plan to bring a travel fan, if desired. The house felt very secure and safe with the gated front entry. The host was very responsive and easy to reach.

Beautiful house inside and out

Spent Thanksgiving week with family. The pool and hot tub are wonderful. I recommend paying extra for pool heating if you go at this time of year. Responsive property management - there was trouble with one of the heating zones in the house and they fixed it right away. The photos and descriptions are accurate. The house is well stocked and comfortable. It has a nice single-story floor plan that let our multi-generation family enjoy time together while still allowing for privacy and different bedtimes. Great location in Del Mar as long as you have a car.

Great house. Plenty of room. Nice to have a bathroom in all bedrooms. The house filled our needs for what we were looking for in our vacation. I would highly recommend this property if you are looking to vacation in San Diego.

Amazing house, location, and host!

We had a great time! The house is beautiful and Shavon was very helpful and accommodating throughout the trip. She even helped me retrieve a speaker that was left when we stayed there!! The house feels secluded and private, but also still very close to town/ the beach. Perfect for what we were looking for! Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Fabulous Del Mar Retreat

We hosted a family retreat at The Sanctuary in Del Mar Heights with 10 people over Thanksgiving 2021. First, the property is even better than the pictures. Second, the rooms are large and beautifully decorated with causal (comfortable) elegant furniture. Third, the house is very well stocked with everything you'd need in a kitchen, a professional gym in the garage, etc. Lastly, Shavon was very helpful and responsive. We give it our highest possible recommendation and will definitely come back.

Multi-generational Family Stay

Perfect for Family Vacation-- Private and Close to Local Sites!

The Sanctuary was the ideal home for our 3 generation family vacation! This beautiful home allows for family members to all be under one roof without tripping over each other. Each bedroom has an adjoining bathroom, which allows everyone to have their own space for toothbrushes, make-up, hair accessories, etc. The bar area is a refuge for those who want to enjoy a game of pool, play some music, play a game of darts, or just hang around the bar. The outdoor space is like having your own resort! There is a stunning swimming pool and spa, including a natural waterfall that spills into the swimming pool. The pool has a fence to keep the little ones safe. The fence is easy to operate but does keep small children from wandering into the pool area unattended. The side patio is complemented by a grand fireplace with an outdoor television. That feature came in handy with our sports fans.. There is a putting green that created the forum for an impromptu "short game" competition. There is a trampoline, as well as a badminton court in the lawn area. Our family had a robust "cornhole" competition with the cornhole boxes and beanbags provided. The house is equipped with lots of indoor games for guests to enjoy as well. Finally, in addition to the awesome features of the home itself, it is really convenient to so many key sites in the area. Our family attended races at the Del Mar Racetrack, spent a day at the San Diego Zoo, and took the kids to Disneyland, which is only a little over an hour away. We spent an afternoon shopping at the Westfield Mall in La Jolla, buying school clothes for all of the kids. My family completely loved our stay at The Sanctuary and would love to return!

Staycation

Great staycation during Covid with family of 6 and our dog. The outside space is amazing. We spent our days by the pool and evenings cooking and using the great outdoor bbq. We did not need to leave the property. There was plenty to keep us occupied. We also enjoyed the bar room with the pool table and darts. Shavon was a great hostess and was quick to respond with any questions. We are looking forward to going back sometime in the near future.

Great get away

Great big house with plenty of space to spread out! We enjoyed both the inside and outside spaces. We used the pool everyday and enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and barbecuing outside. The location felt both tucked away from town but also close enough for easy drives to grocery stores, restaurants, and the beach. Owners left very detailed instructions explaining everything we needed for our stay! We came in July and definitely needed our sunscreen during the day and bug spray in the evenings.

Amazing Stay for Our Family!

We had an amazing stay at this property over the Christmas holiday. Our guests included 7 adults and 5 kids ranging in age from 2-6, and it was perfectly appointed for everyone's needs. The host was probably the most communicative/responsive I've encountered on VRBO or other sites. You couldn't ask for a better location -- super convenient to the freeway, beaches, grocery stores, and restaurants. We loved being able to make quick trips to Whole Foods and the brewery down the road. It was quite chilly during our stay so we were unable to use the pool, but we made great use of the hot tub and the amazing outdoor area with the fireplace and TV. Highly recommend staying here and truly hope that we can do so again.

My family rented this home to celebrate Thanksgiving. We all had our own bedroom and bath. The weather was dreadful but the indoor space and amenities allowed us to enjoy ping ping, pool, cards, puzzles and watching football in front of the fire. The common areas are great and the kitchen lovely for meal making. The table sat all of us comfortably. Once the weather cleared we had a great walk and hike and realized what a perfect location the house was in. Close to the beach, town, grocery, yoga and freeway. Comprehensive communications with the owner. Definitely recommend for a family gathering. Beds comfy and house very clean and well appointed.

Simply Magnificent!

This was our second stay at the Lindley's home. It was just as amazing, if not more so than our first stay! We absolutely love this gorgeous home and the location couldn't be any better for all of the activities we do when we visit ;-). If you have a large group, this is the perfect home and it is by far the best VRBO stay we've had in the area (and we have stayed in MANY!). Don't hesitate to rent this one. Amazing property, lots of amenities

Our extended family thoroughly enjoyed this house! It has everything you would need and more, you won't want to leave. Our kids (ages 10 months to 9 years) all had plenty of toys to play with, and we appreciated the crib, changing table, and high chair. There is so much to do between the pool, the pool table, the ping pong table, the putting green, and more. We hope to book this house again! Thank you Shavon for sharing your home with us.
