Location! Walk to Everything

Newly renovated and fully furnished home located a stone's throw from everything unique in Decorah. We invite you to enjoy our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home that offers space for everyone to relax. The first floor has a relaxing sitting room with a large picture window, a living area that comfortably seats 5 people, separate dining room, private tv room and a kitchen that would make any chef smile offering a new gas range. Well equipped kitchen with serviceware for 12+, Keurig, Calphalon pots and pans, toaster, coffeemaker, blender, microwave and full bar set up. A washer and dryer are available on the first floor. The second floor offers two bedrooms with new memory foam beds (queen and king), luxurious sheets and walk in closets, with a full bathroom just steps away. There is an extra room that can accommodate the queen size air mattress or be used as an office or game room. Enjoy the three season porch off of the kitchen that leads to the private backyard. Plenty of off street parking available.
For the active traveler the 11 mile Trout Run Trail is 2 blocks from our home with canoeing and kayak rentals less than a mile away. Enjoy a daily walk or run through the tree-lined historic streets leading to Phelps Park or explore Ice Cave or Dunning Springs. Some say the Upper Iowa river is one of the best for fly fishing. For the traveler looking to relax there are several amazing shops to casually stroll though within a few blocks. If you are looking for history, arts or culture The Vesterheim Museum is less than a block from our home. Luther College offers the Fine Arts Collection and The Porter Museum are both less than a mile from our home. If you are looking for amazing food and beverage experiences - Decorah has a lot to offer. Two unique craft breweries offering seasonal beers (Pulpit Rock and Toppling Goliath), traditional hot spots like Mabe's Pizza and The Whippy Dip, enjoy fine dining and delicious wine offerings at Rubaiyat. Tour the Historic Hotel Winneshiek and dine at Restauration. Start your morning with a nitro coffee at Impact Coffee or a local blend at Java John's or Magpie. In addition catch your favorite sports game and draft beer at T-Bock's Sports Bar or try Koreana for Japanese Cuisine. For the best bloody mary in town - visit Hay Market located 4 blocks from our home. If organic and farm to table is what you are looking for - the Oneota Coop is 3 blocks away. If you happen to be there on a Wednesday or Saturday, don't miss the farmer's market!

Our impression was favorable. The location for central Decorah could not be better. The house is very old, but nicely appointed. Wish there was a dish washer in the house. Perfect for 4 people. Since we are frequent visitors to Decorah, I am sure we would use this house again.

Cozy Cottage Getaway

This lovely cottage is perfectly located in a residential area only one block away from Decorah’s beautiful downtown. Our group of four adults was able to take advantage of walking to nice restaurants, coffee shops, and Pulpit Rock Brewing to name a few destinations. The home I has been tastefully decorated and the bedrooms are comfortable. The bedrooms are both upstairs with one bathroom up and one on the main level. Definitely a place I would recommend to others.

Convenient, quiet location

We had a lovely stay in Decorah. Property was as pictured and street parking readily available. We did a lot of walking due to close proximity to so many places. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant. The only thing we would've liked that we didn't have was patio furniture in the back yard to have an outdoor space to hang out in. The third "bedroom" has a shared open closet with the master bedroom,. If you are looking for a fully private third room that isn't available. Will consider in the future for 4 adults!

Perfect Little Stay

We loved the Stonewall Cottage. Things we really loved: general house lay out, communication with the owner and LOCATION! Our most enjoyable part was sitting on the porch taking in the quietness of Decorah!

Girls Get Away

Stonewall Cottage was an absolutely perfect fit for our group of four! The house is in a perfect location and you can walk around the neighborhood and down to Water St. where all the shops and businesses are! The house had everything that we needed, was very clean, and check in and check out process was seamless. I would strongly recommend to property to anybody!

A unique home that is well decorated and comfortable and very clean. The house is old with lots of character and nicely refurbished. The creaky steps add to the character. Nicely located to the coffee shop and other downtown shops.

Urban and Wilderness Getaway

Two friends and I finally got to a point in life where we had time for Midwest exploration. I'd always want to see more of Decorah. This house is in a great location to walk to town for shopping and dining. It's also not far from hiking trails. It was wonderful to be outdoors all day and have a charming place to come back to for a home cooked meal. The kitchen is well-equipped, there is plenty of room for more than one cook. The bathroom's were also roomy and clean with decent water pressure in the showers. Like another reviewer stated, there is more space than appears in the VRBO photos. We all loved staying here!

Perfect cozy getaway

We had such a great time at this house! It was bigger than I thought it would be based on the photos; we had a group of four adults and we were very comfortable. Jackie was great and checked in with me to see if I needed anything and was very responsive whenever I messaged her. I can’t wait to go back!

A cozy and convenient cottage during COVID

My sister and I met here to celebrate her birthday, and we didn't want for anything during our stay. We took advantage of the nice weather and walked around town, stopping for a few outdoor meals and drinks over the weekend, but mostly stayed 'home' and utilized the kitchen to make sangria, homemade pizza and breakfast. The beds were comfy and we were able to catch up just like the old days.

Great location

We loved this house. Very clean, lovely home, full of little details. Jackie makes sure you have everything you need. Close (walking distance) to restaurants, brewery, museum, bike trail, etc. We’ll be back.

Great Decorah Overnight

We stayed here with 2 couples, which was perfect since there are 2 full bathrooms. Plenty of room, great location 1 block from Water St and super easy working with Jackie on reservation, access to the house and timely refund. Would definitely stay here again!

Location and Charm!

This property is absolutely adorable, renovated beautifully while keeping the character of the older home. Jackie has decorated it impeccably and made it a comfortable place to call home base on vacation. We only stayed two nights, but longer visits would be so easy. Storage everywhere, fantastic beds, a sun porch with chairs you could take out to the back yard, EVERY kitchen item you could think of. What a great place, and did I say location? One block away is the start of Decorah's main downtown. The area is historic and lovely to take in while enjoying endless shops, cafes, restaurants etc. We will definitely be back!
