Here's what guests say about this vacation rental: "We LOVED our stay at the Buffalo Thunder Lodge! We booked the lodge because it could sleep 23 family members that we were meeting for our Family Reunion. We wanted something that we could all stay in but have enough beds for all of us. We were so pleased with our stay. The lodge was central to all the things we were interested in seeing and doing. It was quiet and the men in the family loved the pool table. The deck outside is a wonderful addition and we spent most of our evenings outside."

This is the perfect lodging for large and small groups.  You can rent the whole Black Hills vacation home, which will sleep 26 people.  Or if you have a smaller group, you can rent the lower "Bunk Suite" with one large bunk room that has 3 queen beds and a sofa sleeper, 1 bedroom with a queen bed, 1 full bath, washer/dryer and a kitchen/dining room with another sofa sleeper.  This can sleep 12.

The "Executive Suite" has 2 King beds, 4 queen beds and 1 sofa sleeper and can sleep 14.  It also has a spacious living room, large kitchen/dining room, 3 bathrooms, washer & dryer and large deck with patio furniture.

The suites are adjoining and can be opened to each other - the total sleeping includes 2 king size beds, 8 queen beds, 3 sofa sleepers to sleep 26.  Other amenities include 3 full kitchens, 2 laundry rooms, TV's in all the bedrooms areas and living room, A/C units in each suite, gas BBQ Grills for each suite, wifi and cable TV.

The Deadwood Thundercove has easy access, located on the south end of Deadwood, paved roads and plenty of parking.  It's 1 mile from main street and you can walk on the Mickelson Trail, right across the road or you can take the Trolley downtown, which stops right in the parking area.

Spring trip

The Buffalo Thunder Lodge was a great place to stay for a weekend getaway. The place was really clean, the host was good about being responsive and it was in the perfect location of town. Would definitely recommend this place to stay.

Work family trip

A group of us nurses that work together have come to Deadwood several times in the last three years. We hike, gamble, shop and grill and chill at the cabin. We love the game room the large deck and the hot tub. Perfect for our group . Always a great time thanks for having us !

Fun with friends in Deadwood!

This was a perfect house for our large group of friends! Plenty of rooms for everyone and the garage/bar was a great place to hang out! Also, the trolley stop in the parking lot was a great feature!

Tong Reunion

Everything was as advertised. The grill and blackstone made meals and cleanup simple and easy. Garage/Gathering area was perfect to keep most activity away from main sleeping areas. We enjoyed our stay and recommend for anyone in the deadwood area.

Family Reunion

Perfect place, description was spot on!! We couldn’t have found a better place to be together. Seven sibling and family with plenty of space to hang out together or in small groups. Check in was seamless, team was responsive any questions. We had everything we expected. Kitchen, deck and community spaces were our frequent hang outs. The party room and hot tub were a hit. Having the trolly stop right in front was an added bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed Deadwood. Day trips to Mount Rushmore, Spearfish Canyon, Custer… All close and memorable. We had a blast and could not recommend more highly. I am sure family members will be back. Thank you for a delightful stay.

Larson family getaway

Fantastic property, lots of space and plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms! We all had a great time. The Trolley stop was a great perk. Close to many sites. Lots of room for vehicles and trailer. Extra parking area was beneficial for the smaller kids to play.

Great Location!

The location is great and is on the Deadwood Trolley route, the check-in code was confusing because there were a few different doors and the code only worked on the one. They are slow to responding if you text. The propane was empty for the grill and the hot tub thermostat must be on the fritz because we had to lower the temp down to 98 before it was a temp we could sit in.

Christmas with all our kids!

We have children and grandchildren living in Kansas and Montana. This was the perfect "meet in the middle" to have all our kids under one roof for the holidays! So much fun was had and we will definitely be doing it again!

What a great place

Large house plenty of beds for our family reunion (16 people) griddle on the deck perfect for cooking breakfast for a large group. Great location for visiting the sites. The garage large enough for big groups of people perfect evening meeting place.

Great house and great location!

This is our second year in a row staying at the Buffalo lodge and we loved it yet again. Convenient to everything including walking to Deadwood, hopping on the Mickelson trail, or grabbing the trolley. Highly recommend!

Family reunion (10 siblings)

Especially loved the large covered deck. Spent hours chatting, laughing, cooking, eating and even enjoying the motorcycle traffic. The game room was lotsa fun. Being close to the downtown area was a big plus, too. It was perfect for our family!
