The house was exactly as billed, a remote log cabin with a picturesque stream in back accessed by a porch through floor to ceiling windows. The house had everything one needs, and the host was accommodating and helpful throughout the stay. I would visit again!

The property and house was lovely. The steam sauna and the electric bidet toilets were a huge hit with all of us. The beds are comfortable (though it’s important to note they are Japanese futons). We picked this place because of the beautiful property and it looked easier than other to mostly childproof with what we could travel with (a child gate and some cabinet locks). My 1.5 year old loved running around the space with his cousin. The only downsides we noted were that it got really dry at night with the heat on, and the bedrooms really overheated with the doors closed since it takes more energy to keep the big room comfortable. Also, please note, there is no TV. We didn’t even think to check the amenities list for one as it’s so common. And none of the reviews we read mentioned it. We did fine without one, we were there to enjoy one another’s company after all. However it rained all weekend and it would have been nice to watch a movie with the kids in the evening, or put the football game on. Had we known we would have prepared additional activities for the kids. Overall it was a really lovely place and property. We didn’t see or hear from the tenant in the attached apartment. And communication with the host was exactly as much as we needed. An added bonus was there wasn’t a huge list of things to do to tidy up before leaving. So nice to just focus on a couple things and head out. We would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay in Cummington. The house was very clean, the kitchen well stocked with utencils and cookware. The creek behind the house was great for meditation and quiet time and the flowers beautiful.We only used the Master bedroom upstairs and found it comfortable.It was a perfect place to set up base camp while we traveled around New England.

Scenic spot

Scenic setting, remote area. Hose was clean and kitchen was adequately stocked. The no shoes rule took a little getting used to, but was fine. Beds are comfortable and the heat /AC worked well.

Idyllic cabin on the water

We loved this charming house on the river! We attended a family reunion in the area and it was a wonderful location and so lovely to be near the running river and take a dip in the refreshing water. My only recommendation would be to add in the initial listing that there is a caretaker on property. That isn't listed on the listing and I didn't know about it until the check in instructions came. While not a bother at all during our stay, it isn't something I would usually care for to have a stranger on the property where we are staying, especially when bringing our children.

What a fabulous place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our girls’ weekend at this peaceful, comfortable haven of tranquility. Falling asleep to the sound of the rushing river cascading passed was delightful.

Better out than in

Pro: The land is great, with a nice river and woods out the door. We saw a bald eagle and rough winged hawks from the house. The house is spacious with a loft ceiling and open floor plan. The Wi-Fi internet was very fast. There's no TV, stereo, games or other entertainment, but the library is well stocked. Con: Like so many rentals these days, the pricing suggests luxury, but in fact you're getting a cottage with peeling paint, cracked walls, busted dishwasher rack, loose cabinet doors, fussy locks, drippy faucets, etc. Gas stove top with nice pans, but the knife was so dull it couldn't cut raw meat. Sleeps six, and sits six at the dining table, but there aren't six matching plates, and couch seating for only three. Shaker-style dining chairs and a Formica dining table. It just seems like the owners should take some of the rental revenue and fix the place up, make it feel like you're getting your money's worth. Also: This house is a duplex, we heard noises from the other unit. Sound travels throughout this home, there's no privacy as far as that goes. T-Mobile phones did OK in the house, not AT&T, & both lost service on the road (5/2023). Call for better directions, email said red car in the driveway but it wasn't red, the house number is very hard to find, etc. ... we finally nerved up and entered our code in the digital lock on the porch, until that worked we weren't at all sure we were trying to get into the right house.

Quiet and peaceful

The house is right off a road however secluded and extremely close to a creek. Pros: quiet and peaceful, beautiful sounds from the running creek, no tv, no traffic, no worries… Cons: not enough towels for our family of 6, no wash cloths, some of the silverware was dirty, not enough living room seating. We made it work and still had a lovely time.

7 years running

A group of us from Amherst-Northampton have rented this place in the early spring for years now. A short drive from our homes, it is an escape for us! The river, big windows and no shortage of local hikes have been a mainstay for us. Can't wait to return next year and for years to come!

Great place!

Great location for our family to get away from stress and life but close enough to things for dinners out and hiking activities. Would gladly go again. Only warning is the living room furniture is sparse. Hard to find seating for our family of 5. Would recommend adding a few pieces.
