  • The Stables is a beautifully converted modern cottage on the way towards West Wittering. Only a five minute drive from West Wittering beach this makes the perfect getaway for a family of four hoping to enjoy the best of what our South Coast has to offer.
    Birdham is situated between Chichester and West Wittering with easy access by car or bus to both. The historic cathedral city of Chichester is only 10 minutes to the centre by car and has excellent train links including a direct line to London Victoria.
    The Stables is one of two barns here on grounds of Thatched House. The Dairy next door is almost identical and can work very well if travelling in a larger group together also! At the back of the cottage is a lovely large lawn looking over the picturesque surroundings and from the front of the cottage you can take a stroll with the dog across the fields and out towards Chichester Canal.
    This gorgeous barn conversion has an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. With high ceilings and tall windows out to the grounds which gives it a pleasant light and airy feeling and is more than suitable for entertaining all the family. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you will need to effectively self-cater during your stay. This includes, coffee machine, kettle, cafetiere, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster and a separate laundry room is in development and can be used in an out building across the yard from the cottage.

    The living area includes a large wide screen television and free Wi-Fi available for entertainment. Board games will be left available for guest use and please do make use of the outdoor dining area in summer, it's a bit of a sun trap!
    There are two bedrooms at the cottage. This is usually set up as a super king double and twin room however upon request you may have two super king double rooms or two twin rooms. Please ask upon booking. Each bedroom has modern newly fitted en suite shower room with good sized wash basin.
    There is plenty of parking at the cottage all off road. Undercover can be made available should you need it. Please mention this upon booking.

Lovely stay near the Chichester and the Witterings

The Stables are close to all the amenities of Chichester and the wonderful West Wittering beaches. Fantastic property if you have a dog, with a huge area of accessible land on the property for your walks. Lovely hosts live in an adjacent cottage.

Wonderful and well placed cottage

We will without question return. The Stables is a beautifully thought out and well appointed cottage. It’s is exceptionally comfortable, from the crisp linens to the plentiful cosy towels. There is plenty outside space, and our hosts made us very welcome, encouraging us to take advantage of their wonderful farm. The cottage is ideally placed for the beaches and surrounding places of interest. It’s so nice to stay somewhere with great appliances and lovely crockery- the hosts have made this a lovely home from home and we have already recommended to friends.

Perfect half-term

A light, comfortable conversion full of charm which suited our family perfectly. Access to the coast was top notch as was access to Chichester. We plan to return.

Well located for driving to attractions and well laid out

The accommodation was lovely and nicely done so although it's next to the main house on the farm, most windows face away for privacy. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. However unfortunately the Stables are next to the main road into West Wittering which is very busy so the sound of traffic was constant if the doors were open, and it meant that although the distances to local attractions like the Marina weren't far it was not safe to walk anywhere because of the very busy road, which was disappointing. If you are happy to drive everywhere and don't mind the sound of traffic in an otherwise peaceful setting then it would be a great base for the area.

Really happy stay

This property was perfect for us and our son. Very accessible to Chichester and beaches. Jo and Al were extremely friendly and accommodating. The Stables is a superb property. Beautifully presented and equipped. Only small downside it is on a rather busy road. Thank you so much !
