Beautiful Harbors Listed Coastguard Cottage, Snowhill, Westwittering

Beautiful Grade 2 listed cottage 200 metres from the sheltered tidal Snowhill Creek at the entrance of Chichester Harbour. With the Sailing Club opposite, and a short walk to the to the famous West Wittering beach, Windsurfing Club, bird reserves and the National Trust sand dunes of East Head.

The cottage is part of a row of former Coastguard Cottages, built around 1833, with small garden to the front and a small yard to the rear. Three bedrooms comprised of double bed, two singles and smaller ground floor bedroom with bunk bed. Cottage is small and compact and perfectly formed! It is cozier than the photos indicate!

Temporary sailing club membership might be available and would require contacting the Sailing Club secretary via their web site. In addition, we have contacts with many of the local sailing instructors. Sailing is possible two to three hours either side of high tide.

Leave the property as you found it
Do not leave the dishwasher full. If it is not finished we have to stop it, remove dishes and wash up for next guests. We will charge for extra work.

Parking can be tight but would request that access to the very end house is not blocked. We would recommend that only one car is used
Please put rubbish into the bins at the front of Nore House Garage / Front Gate. Nore House is the first cottage in the Terrace and has its own drive
Please do NOT leave dogs alone. Barking (as neighbours come and go) is completely unacceptable and anti-social and I will be immediately informed.

All great tho we'd have liked the kitchen, especially the cooker, to have been cleaner on arrival. However the owner tells us he is going to renew his kitchen at this property which we hope to see next year when we come in March! We plan to return on a regular basis....

The best thing about this property is the comfortable beds and clean fresh linen. I thought the kitchen wasn’t as clean as it could’ve been. We managed to clean a pan we used but the oven and cupboards need a good clean.

Julian is such a friendly and very helpful person. Whenever I had a question he came over or called me back.The cottage is a lovely place to stay, everything one might need is in the kitchen and bathroom. The beds and linen very very comfortable. I was surprised how quiet the neighbourhood is, not only during the night, but also during the days, no noise at all! The beach is nearby, a little grocery store and a pub in the villge. My little son enjoyed surfing class in the club and we had a fantastic family holiday there. We will definitively come back!

This is such a special place! The location is incredible - both very quiet and close to the beach and within easy reach of West Wittering centre. The garden stunning and beautifully maintained, and the house is comfortable and very homely. It is an old house which has not been refurbished for quite some time - the age shows, but it is very clean and clearly lovingly maintained. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen very well kitted out (the downstairs bedroom, which we didn't use, is perhaps the least nice part of the cottage - tiny for a bunk bed, a bit dark, and a bit musty with a powerful air freshener used to mask that). All in all, we loved out stay at the cottage and hope to be back in the future!

Another great stay

This was our third stay at the cottage. We keep coming back as the cottage and the location are perfect for us and our golden retriever. We enjoyed our stay very much! Such a beautiful and peaceful spot.

A lovely bolt hole

We had a wonderful stay at the Coastguards. We’re regular visitors of west wittering and the location is perfect for exploring the beach and local area. A very comfortable and functional place for the family. We would have loved a bbq! The kitchen was a little dated but we spent little time in the cottage as we were out and about enjoying crabbing, beach walks, the local pub and Chichester. Thank you!

A perfect hideaway…

We absolutely loved our little cottage … a perfect place for a time away from the hubbub. Quiet & peaceful - with breakfast, lunch & aperitivi in the sheltered little front garden. Cottage well equipped for everything… cooking, relaxing - and a fabulous location.
