Port de Charlestown

Clean room, central position, bar, pool table, sea views from our room fabulous (Room 15) beach across road, steps down. Beautiful breakfast. Highly recommend this guest house.

I have stayed at this hotel/pub with rooms quite a few times over the years and it’s always been 3.5 to 4 star level. However, this time I was disappointed by a number of factors. Starting with the room - I’m afraid the bathroom was a bit dirty and the shower had mould. The toilet was also not in great shape. Then, the bed. I sat on the edge of the bed and the mattress just collapsed to the bed frame. I can’t imagine that mattress has been replaced for quite a few years. I told the staff this when I left and the reply was “OK thanks”… One of the two nights was ruined by noisy drinkers outside way past closing, almost 1am by the time they shut up and left. The one redeeming factor was actually the bar staff. Friendly, warm and chatty. Afraid to say, this wasn’t a comfortable experience.
