  • Donde 1892 se encuentra con el lujo moderno en un alquiler de vacaciones ubicado en Alto Pass, Illinois. Havisham House tiene dos casas en la propiedad ... Carriage House y Main House. Estamos en el corazón de la ruta del vino del sur de Illinois, a solo unos kilómetros de Bald Knob Cross y de increíbles rutas de senderismo / ciclismo. La planta principal de esta acogedora Carriage House ofrece un dormitorio, baño completo, cocina y sala de estar. En la planta baja tiene un dormitorio más grande, baño completo y una salida a un patio privado exterior.
    ¿Por qué lo llamamos "Casa Havisham"? ¿Has leído Grandes expectativas de Charles Dickens? El personaje principal, la señorita Havisham, vivía en la Casa Satis, una mansión en ruinas. Esta propiedad me recordó de inmediato esta novela clásica cuando la encontramos en 2015 ... abandonada y muy dañada por un tornado severo. (Vea las fotos de "antes" en havishamhouse. Com.) Incluso con su daño extenso, nos enamoramos de esta propiedad y teníamos "grandes expectativas" para su rescate. Creemos que realmente disfrutará su estadía mientras crea maravillosos recuerdos en el sur de Illinois. Sabemos que te encantará Havisham House tanto como a nosotros.

Great location

Loved our stay here! The house was very clean and newly updated. Close to wineries and beautiful scenery. Our host, Jerri, was wonderful to work with.

Beautiful and well located

Clean, spacious, modern and well-decorated carriage house in the heart of Alto Pass. Perfect for hiking or checking out wineries/breweries. Great host, would stay again!

Highly recommend!

We choose this place for a central location to do the wine trails. A wonderful venue with beautiful grounds. Big house would be a great place to stay as a large group. Adorable small town vibe and close to Murphy and Anna for needs. Ample kitchen amenities, might need a few additions but you could get by! Would 110% stay here again!

Better than expected!

Took wife on a valentine weekend getaway. Looked at several places around the wine trail. Choose this home based on friend’s recommendation. Glad we did. Up to date…safe feeling…clean and great location!!! We WILL stay here again. Thank you for the hospitality.

Great little getaway

We had a nice time. We thought we would get a little more hiking in but the ground was a bit too mushy. Just that time of year. The bourbon bar was a nice finish in the evening. Thank you very much for a cozy stay.

Unique house and area

Southern Illinois is a beautiful area for scenic drives and hiking, wineries and breweries, etc. Havisham carriage house is unique with its history and old thick walls; carefully restored. It is comfortable and functional. We enjoyed the patio and, in cooler weather, the ready to go fire pit would be perfect. A few steps up the sidewalk is the bourbon bar. The bar tender knows her craft! The Bar Bites were excellent. Just be aware of hours of operation for all businesses in the whole area. The toiletries are minimal and very basic so you might pack your preferred items and kleenex. The kitchen is minimally stocked with dishes for 6 people, 1 skillet and one sauce pan if you plan to do any food prep. We enjoyed Midlands, The Brick House Grill, and the 51BBQ in Cobden. And don’t miss brunch at The Iron Whisk. The taco place in Cobden is good and very popular.

The Carriage house was very nice! It was very comfortable. We visited local wineries and the location worked well for that purpose! Thanks for having such nice accommodations!

Beautiful homes in the country.

A really cool pair of classic old timey houses that have been impeccably restored. We chose to stay there because they are located close to friends in Alto Pass but would be great for anyone wanting to experience rural Southern Illinois!

Perfectly located in Alto Pass - furthest Shawnee Wine Trail Winery is about 18 minutes away. Beautiful area, spacious rental!

Carriage House

This is such a cute place! It's close to Shawnee Forest for some great hikes. There's a small park across the street for kids to play at as well. We didn't find too much to eat close by, but we brought lots of food and snacks to keep us happy (we visited during the off season, so this might be different during summer months). We would absolutely stay here again if we come to this area.

Nice place!

Very clean, comfortable property. Small kitchen but if you plan to order in or do carry out you’ll be in great shape. Coffee pot, toaster and refrigerator are great for breakfast. Oven available, too.

Wine Trail Experience

We really enjoyed staying in the carriage house. It was the perfect size for 2 couples. It was very clean and had everything that we needed. It was in the perfect location to everything that we wanted to do. I would highly recommend staying here.

Awesome clean experience with friendly staff!

The Carriage House was beautiful. It was clean and provided everything we needed. We had a little trouble getting the door unlocked to get in but it was a simple fix! I called Jeri right away. She was friendly, helpful, apologetic and corrected the situation successfully within seconds. Upon leaving, locking the lower door was incomplete because the handle kept spinning. Overall, EXCELLENT!! Would go back in a heartbeat! Jerri was great to work with!! The house was beautiful and comfortable!
