With exhilarating coastal views and cliffs carpeted with wildflowers, this National Trust beach is an ideal spot to join the glorious South West Coast Path.

One of four barn conversions, this welcoming holiday home exudes character and charm, with original beams and a vaulted ceiling. The spacious first-floor lounge/diner houses comfortable sofas and a pretty dining area, with a wood burner adding a cosy touch. French doors with a Juliet balcony overlook the rolling countryside. Lively Bude (5 miles) is famous for its golden sands and has a good range of shops and eateries. The beaches are a magnet for surfers, with calmer waters to be found in the beautiful sea pool on Summerleaze Beach. You can hire a kayak, canoe or pedalo for a peaceful trip down historic Bude Canal or enjoy a stroll down the towpath. Scenic Castle Bude has a fascinating heritage museum, exhibitions, galleries and a cafe. For family fun, head for the Monster Slip and Slide water park and meet the donkeys at picture-postcard Clovelly (11.5 miles).
