Jekyll Beach - Terrapin Haven

  • Jekyll Island is state owned, and as such, development of the island is restricted to only 35% of the island creating a very quiet, laid-back atmosphere. If you want to 'get away from it all,' this is the place! The beaches are relatively undisturbed, and summer is a great time to see the huge sea turtles come onto the beach to lay their eggs.

    This is a vacation rental that's large enough for the whole clan, yet comfortable for one or two, and it's located in the Jekyll Beach area. The home has lots of living areas, including a sunroom that's perfect for games and entertaining. The dining room table seats six, but if there are only two, just sit at the breakfast bar. Jekyll's newest wooden crossover to the beach is across the street. This house is on the west side of Beachview, and is approximately 100 yards from the beach. High tide limits beach access to ALL homes on this end of the island but "all day" beaches are just a 2 min. ride, with great parking, picnic tables and a ramp.

    There is a minimum rental of 4 nights required.

Lovely vacation stay

We had a lovely 5 day vacation stay at this home on Jekyll. Perfect home base, great to have room to spread out. Only complaint is beds are dated and uncomfortable. We would stay here again.

Exceptional property

The property was just as listed and even bigger than we pictured. We travelled with three adults and three children and had ample space. The property was extremely clean and well stocked kitchen with very easy beach access. We communicated with the owner and she even called us prior to checkin. Great experience and would recommend to anyone staying in Jekyll island.

Jekyll Island Family Vacation

The house was clean and the neighborhood was quiet. We loved being able to walk across the street to the beach. The beach does disappear, but if you watch the tide times, you can enjoy a very nice private beach with no problems. The island has enough stuff to keep you busy. Love the nature on the island and the history!

The property was great. There was plenty of space. It was close to the public beach access. Unfortunately, the high tide and small beach required us to travel to the south beaches in order to stay out for the day. Other than that, I would stay at this property again.

Large Family Vacation to our favorite place!

We love visiting Jekyll Island and this is our second time staying at this home! It was great both times. There is plenty of space, plenty of linens, washer/dryer, access to the beach. The air conditioner went out the first night we arrived and it was handled very quickly! Check in and Check out was easy! 100% would reccomend staying here. We may come back for a 3rd time in the next few years!

Plenty of living space

This property worked well for our first time on Jekyll and to spend time with our grandchildren. There are three "living areas" that made it convenient for multiple activities to go on--TV, play games, visit, etc. The outside shower was very convenient. The home is older, and appears to be a work "in progress" as things are being updated.

The house was wonderful! Everything was clean and comfortable. The A/C works great! The only downside was the "beach access" across the street had missing stairs, so we had to walk down another 3-4 blocks for a beach access walkway that had proper stairs. Definitely not the property owners fault, just a miniscule inconvenience

Nice house and great location

The house, while older, is very well taken care of, which is much more important to me than the age of the house. This was a "guys" trip for me, my dad, and my son (9), and it did not disappoint. beach access was close, and the bike trails run right across the street from the house. The HVAC worked great and so did the showers and everything else. If you are looking for a quiet house with plenty of living space I would suggest this house. The next trip we plan I will be looking for the availability of this house again.
