Modern Farmhouse in Heart of Valle Crucis

We welcome guests to enjoy the beauty of the North Carolina mountains from our newly built farmhouse set on a hillside in the heart of historic Valle Crucis. The house, which was designed by the architects from the HGTV show “Hometown,” can accommodate 8 guests with a maximum of 6 adults in 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. The 4th bedroom is a small “kids room” with twin beds. There’s a main level master suite with private bath and walk-in shower. A modern kitchen and open concept living space is inviting for friends and family to gather. We invite you to visit!

We are proud our home that was completed in August, 2019. We hope to spend many vacations here with our four year old, Tessa, as we visit family. For Catherine, she is coming home when she drives in Valle Crucis. Her parents have been here for almost 45 years and still live in the home she grew up in at the top of the hill. So this is a special place for us. We hope to host families and groups of friends who enjoy the mountains, appreciate time together and who will treat our home as their own.

NO SMOKING: We do not allow smoking inside or around the house. We also do not allow any pets inside the house.

EVENTS: There are no events at our home or on the property unless approved in wiring by prior to booking.

Situated in the heart of Valle Crucis, we are 1.5 miles from the original Mast General Store, and Mast Store Annex & Candy Barrel. Over Yonder restaurant, and the beautiful Valle Crucis Community Park, which holds Music in the Valle on Fridays in summer and fall, is also 1.5 miles away. Although you are visiting the mountains, it’s a fairly easy drive to our home, since we are located in the valley and not up a steep mountain road. This is most helpful for people who are not used to driving in the winter snow.

Banner Elk is 6.5 miles up a curvy road. Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain Ski Resorts are both just outside of Banner Elk. Boone is 10 miles away where Appalachian State University is located. Tweetsie Railroad amusement park is 13 miles away, and beautiful Blowing Rock is 16 miles away. And you can jump on the Blue Ridge Parkway from several different spots around the area. Grandfather Mountain is a must-see that is also nearby.

But you really might not want to leave Valle Crucis! Except to get groceries and gas...you'll need to drive into Boone for those.

There are nearby hiking trails above the Valle Crucis Conference Center that are open to the public.

We also have a Smart TV with access to Netflix and lots of games and books. You’re welcome to login to your own Hulu, DirecTV or other streaming services that you subscribe to (we do not provide access to those). We provide a gas grill for your use.

We look forward to renting our home to mature & responsible adults. This is our well-cared for family vacation home. If you’re looking for a house to have a big party, this is not the place. But we'd love to host you if you want a beautiful home in the most beautiful spot we know!

The house was beautiful and clean. The beds were comfy and the host was readily available if we needed anything. The location was nice with scenic views. Even though the house was isolated in Valle Crucis, Boone and most attractions were only a few minutes away. The only negative for our stay was that the water pressure in the showers wasn’t great. Aside from that, we had a great time and enjoyed the farmhouse.

This was our second stay in this home! It is an Incredible retreat in the beautiful mountains of NC! Family friendly spot with nearby park and trails! The views were incredible and the house was fully stocked with all that we needed. The host was amazing and super responsive! Looking forward to returning next year!

Peaceful and Beautiful

Absolutely beautiful

I don’t have enough words to fully describe how beautiful this home is. The house is decorated beautifully and was amazingly clean! My husband and I came with our 5 kids (7 and under) and we could not have picked a better place! The house has everything you could think of and then some! My big girls loved staying in the twin room and especially loved the lights above their beds! The baby gate and pack n play were a huge bonus! I cannot even begin to describe the views from this home. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the cows each day. We are looking forward to staying here again. Catherine and John truly thought of everything and were absolutely wonderful to work with. They were quick to answer any questions I had! Definitely a gem of a home!

Third time for this wonderful place

My wife and I have spent the week of our anniversary here at the farmhouse in Valle Crucis for the 3rd time in 3 years. We love it. The house is very nice and beautifully situated on a hillside over looking adjacent farms. The weather in late July is amazing. The surrounding area is so relaxing. What can I say - we've stayed here 3 years in a row.

Serenity

If you want a peaceful place to stay that is conveniently located to Boone, this is the place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely home situated on a beautiful hillside. We've always loved the house designs featured in Southern Living, and this one did not disappoint. The owners were very communicative about every aspect of our stay and made it stressfree. The covered back porch has plenty of furniture that facilitates the enjoyment of a wonderful view of a cattle farm and hillsides. We highly recommend this rental! You won't be disappointed.

Graduation Celebration

We celebrated my son’s graduation from Appalachian State University with family, and a few very close friends. An incredible setting for a special day! Everything was perfect! Communication with Catherine perfect, house beautiful, perfectly decorated, spotless, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, everything we hoped for and imagined. Will definitely return! Great family getaway

We had a wonderful time at this scenic mountain house. The house sits in a beautiful mountain setting but has great modern amenities. We were traveling with our two daughters (ages 5 and 7) and they loved the upstairs bedrooms and toys/ books on hand. We did tubing at hawks nest, skiing at Appalachian ski mountain and gem mining and the drive from the house was easy for each activity. Would highly recommend this spot for families and would stay here again!

Relaxing Stay

Our stay at the property was wonderful. The space was very clean (believe me I notice with 4 active kids all over the floors), wonderfully hospitable with all the “extras” to make it restful... comfy beds, stocked kitchen, lush towels, working TV’s, a porch swing, adult & children’s books, ect. The location was wonderful, especially when having children— lots of outdoor grass and hills to play on… a beautiful back porch overlooking the hills and mountains. Mast General Store, Valle Crucis Community Park, and Over Yonder are all fun places right down the street. Hope to be back to stay sometime in the future.

Thanksgiving in the mountains

This is our second time staying here and we absolutely love the house! It such a cozy and clean farmhouse in a great location in Valle Crucis with a beautiful view. The beds are very comfortable and the outdoor space is fantastic. We had lots of fun playing in the yard and loved seeing the deer in the morning! I highly recommend this house and the owner is wonderful to work with and we look forward to staying here again.

Life size doll house

If you ever get a chance to stay here, do it. This place is so quaint. I felt like walking into the dollhouse from my childhood. The antiques and fun decor makes it so unique. My friends and I enjoyed our time just watching the cows graze From the back porch. It would’ve been great to have a fire feature in the back so we could stay outside longer. The kitchen was fully stocked and The Bluetooth speaker was perfect for playing out music. The beds were a bit uncomfortable but everything else made up for it.

Wonderful stay at Charming Valley Crusis Farmhouse

My family and I had an amazing stay at this lovely farmhouse. The farmhouse could not be any more warm and welcoming .Beautiful and clean, this house and the property is very peaceful. It is well equipped and located in a place that is easy to get to outings. We have rented many vacation properties and this is by far my favorite!

A Beautifully Situated Farmhouse in NC High Country

My wife and I just spent a week at Farmhouse for a 2nd year in a row and we've already booked it again for next year. Obviously, we love it. The house itself is very nice, well equipped, and very comfortable. The setting is beautiful. We sat on the back porch and watched the cows in the pasture across the way. We watch the deer graze on the hill in front of the house. We walked every morning at the Valle Crucis Park which is 1 mile away. This park is very nice - 1 mile walking path around it, playground equipment, pavilions, and it's on the banks of the Watauga River. We enjoyed the Mast General Store, Over Yonder Restaurant, zip lining at High Gravity Adventures (we're both close to 70), a wine tasting at Linville Falls Winery, Grandfather Mountain and The Local just off the App State campus in Boone. Catherine is a great host - like I said, we've already booked it for a 3rd year in a row.

This property is beautiful, super clean and the area has easy access to everything.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this property. It’s usually booked we we’re very happy to be able to book it again. The area has great access to everything you would want to do. It’s so clean, new and has everything you need to feel right at home. We loved meeting Dutch (family dog) and watching the cows and fields being harvested. (Hay). The area is safe and made for very enjoyable walks. We will definitely stay at this property again.
