We met the agent who showed us the apartment, and we were very disappointed. The pictures in the listing do not honestly depict this property. The open, clean, uncluttered foyer shown on website is not what we found when we arrived. We were overwhelmed by the smell of the stinky shoes and wet laundry. The other residents on the floor use the common entry as a continuation of their space, drying laundry, storing kids’ toys on the floor, keeping and half cleaned cookware on a shelf. The bedrooms were not as pictured, the showers were moldy. We discussed the condition of the apartment with the manager. He agreed that it was not, in his words “spotless,” but in his opinion, he felt it was “clean enough.” The apartment smelled of stale tobacco. The manager said that if the smell “was not better in a day or two, he could see if something could be done.” We were not going to stay there and hope for improvement.The listing does not mention the area. People were smoking pot on the sidewalk next to the building door. VRBO initially offered me a credit of 125, which I declined. VRBO said that was all they could offer because the host had already been paid.A day later VRBO upped the offer to 250. Again, that is not acceptable. I would like a refund of the full amount I was charged. VRBO said they could not offer a refund because, “only the host can approve a refund at this stage. they (the hist) indicated that processing compensation at this time is challenging. “
