Large Cabin in Great Location

Welcome to Mountainside Lodge!

Mountainside Lodge is a spacious log cabin vacation home in Valle Crucis, NC. Nestled in the woods, this spacious cabin with seven (7) sleeping areas and five and a half (5.5) bathrooms is a perfect mountain retreat (Can sleep up to 22 adults and kids).

Designed with warm wood details, a cozy gas fireplace, and ample seating surrounding a large HDTV, the living room serves as a welcoming hub for this home. On the other side of the gas fireplace, a bright sunroom offers additional seating.

The kitchen features three ovens, stainless steel appliances, and a spacious island offering room to gather, making it perfect for hosting large groups. There is seating for 22 at multiple tables inside, with additional dining outside on the covered porch. In addition, the wrap-around porch boasts 2 swings and seating to take in the surrounding mountain views.

The Game Room and Garage offer a variety of activities designed to entertain both children and adults. Bring your pup! Two (2) dogs are welcome with an additional pet fee. And, yes, there is a fenced spot for your dog to “go” that is accessible from the house.

The short driveway up to this home is steep, very steep - **4WD or All Wheel drive AWD is necessary in the winter months**.

This home is just two minutes from the historic Mast General Store and the Valle Crucis Community Park, which features multiple playgrounds, basketball courts, soccer fields, walking trails, disc golf, and access to the Watauga River for fishing, swimming, and floating. Other nearby attractions include:

Absolutely perfect house for family and friends. Large enough to accommodate several people but cozy enough for personal space too. Will definitely stay here again and recommend this house to anyone going to this area.

Beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting! Spacious. Has everything you need for vacation. We used the fire pit every night! The dining room table fit all 10 of us. Loved the front porch as well with two porch swings, single swing, and other seating. It was perfect for us!

Plenty of room for our family of 16. Nice Mountain View from the porch. Nice game room for children. Very steep driveway, but manageable for all wheel drive. Would rent again.

Empty Nesters Celebration!

We traveled to the area with 4 others couples. We had looked for a place with at least five bedrooms and baths to comfortably accommodate us. We were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful, spacious house. We each had lovely bedrooms and baths and plenty of room to spread out. There was also a large kitchen and dining table where we could all gather for meals. As is noted in the information, the driveway is no joke. It is made of gravel and very steep so plan accordingly. All of our vehicles made it, but thankfully we had no weather to contend with. We would definitely rent this property again.

Beautiful home

The house itself was magnificent. We had 20 of us and it never felt crowded. The beds were comfortable with lovely views from the rooms and the kitchen area was great for making large meals and converging as a group. I will say, that the driveway was treacherous. Not all our vehicles had 4/all wheel drive so getting up and down on a prayer is what we did. The youngsters of our group loved the fire pit and the game room and were content to be together. Other than the driveway and the lack of enough garbage pails outside (3 cans for 20 people for 7 days) the stay was perfect. The maintenance company did come midweek to empty the pails after a phone call but I was told I would be charged for a mid week pickup. After a short discussion, I was informed that the fee will be waved and I would not be charged. I would definitely stay in the house again as a large group but would do more research of the area to find more things to do.

Overall Good Value

The house is beautiful. Location is excellent. The driveway is a nightmare. The jacuzzi tub on the second floor leaked through the first floor ceiling into the living room where we had to place a cooler to catch the water. (The water level was at a very reasonable level, its a plumbing issue with the jets) There are also water stains on the ceiling in multiple areas from past leaks. The kitchen had all the necessary appliances. However, cookware and utensils were all substandard or missing all together. The weekend was serviceable and enjoyable but several issues made it less than perfect.

Family get together

Overall experience was great. Pros-House has plenty of room, plenty of amenities. Views from the front porch are awesome. Each bedroom having its own full bathroom is great Cons- driveway. Driveway is steep and 4wd is def recommended regardless of weather however we felt if the driveway was kept up better the stay would have been perfect. Driveway was rutted and certainly needs attention

Labor Day Family Retreat

My family and I visit this area every year for Labor Day. This is our 2nd year in a row staying at this location and it is the perfect house for as many as we have in our group. I have 3 grown daughters , their spouses, 5 grandchildren and my mom. The house has everything we need for a great get together.

Great home!

Loved this location and home. Lots of rooms to accommodate all our age groups and everyone loved the game room. Just not enough time to enjoy all the porch hammocks and swings. Tough driveway but 3 of our 4 cars made it up. Easy check in and check out. Will definitely come back to this home again!

Gorgeous for group retreat!

Cabin is spacious and clean. Loved the hot tub and gas fireplace for gathering. Firewood at for fire pit was a little wet, so recommend bringing your own. Kitchen is large and well supplied (pots, pans, dishes, utensils). Would recommend checking in before going to grocery store as some supplies are left behind for next guests (salt, pepper, trash bags, dish soap, coffee filters, etc..). Warning: very STEEP driveway. Highly recommend 4-wheel/AWD drive even on a clear day!!! Would stay here again with large group and/or multiple families.

Great floor plan for large family

The openness of the floor plan fit our family great. Really the only thing that I could point out is the dishwasher door is heavy and is not spring loaded so it falls all the way open easily. The weight of that could hurt a child if the child inadvertently pulls on it. Game room was great. Fire pit was good.

Fantastic Family Retreat

There is no way to accurately describe this home as it is so beautiful and well appointed that it will leave you speechless! Plenty of room for your family. It is the perfect mountain getaway. You don't have to go anywhere, but Boone is a 10-15 minute ride and Mast General Store is 1.5 mile away! Definitely want to go back!
