In this charming villa, built in the classic Capri style, the first floor features an elegant apartment comprising two double bedrooms with an en suite bathroom, a living room with a fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen with a patio overlooking a lush garden, framed by a lovely private pool with a direct view of the sea off Capri. The apartment is furnished in a Mediterranean style, with colorful tiles hand-decorated by master ceramicists from Vietri; the famous Neapolitan terracotta paves the villa’s walkways, interspersed with panels of hand-painted majolica by renowned 1950s ceramic artists—the very artists who made the Mediterranean luxury of Capri’s homes famous. The villa has recently been fully renovated, yet its soul remains intact; it was the historic residence of the famous philosopher Benedetto Croce and, at the same time, served for years as a cultural gathering place for numerous artists, poets, musicians, and painters from all over the world. Set among a cluster of prestigious villas where many VIP have chosen to settle—including, in the past, Alberto Moravia, Mario Soldati, and the multi-award-winning British writer Graham Greene, who chose this bright corner of Anacapri for its tranquility to immerse himself in silence and write the most famous novels that made him world-renowned. The apartment features a lush garden with a panoramic terrace, complete with a charming freshwater pool that is always kept clear and clean. The villa is located in the very central Caprile neighborhood, which is full of typical narrow alleys, small shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries, bars, and grocery stores. Guests at Villa Croce also have free access to the pool at Hotel San Michele, the family-owned 4-star hotel, which includes a lounge chair, umbrella, and beach towels. Right next to the villa, guests will find all the bus stops for direct routes to Capri, Marina Piccola, the Lighthouse, and the famous Blue Grotto located in the Anacapri area. Upon arrival and departure, Villa Croce guests will have access to a free shuttle to and from the port of Capri. The property was recently acquired by the managers of the B&B Il Sogno and Villa Donna Carolina, who also own the Hotel San Michele; in this regard, guests of Villa Croce will have the opportunity to have lunch and dinner at the hotel’s restaurants, with reservations available both by the pool for lunch and at the historic restaurant “La Lanterna Verde” for dinner—a panoramic spot directly overlooking the Gulf of Naples with views of Capri and the entire Campania coast.
