Located on Akumal’s Half Moon Bay, this penthouse is the definition of low-key Caribbean luxury for up to 6 guests. Featuring all the modern comforts of home, this vacation rental is a magical getaway with dazzling views of the Caribbean Sea. Playa Blanca condominiums are one of Akumal’s landmark properties, renowned for their central location, spacious layout, and amazing views.

Located on the third floor, guests can gaze upon the beach and turquoise waters from the beachfront terrace, a fully equipped kitchen, breakfast bar, dining, and living areas. Large sliding glass doors bring plenty of natural light to enter, and when opened, welcome fresh ocean breezes flow. The large terrace is furnished with a table and chairs, and comfortable lounging.

Each one of the penthouse’s 3 bedrooms has an ensuite bath.

- The master bedroom has a king-size bed, and the second guest room has a queen-sized bed.

- The third suite has a king bed, a kitchenette, an entertainment center, private access, and a beautiful street-side view of the jungle.

You can access a number of adventures on foot or by bike. A shallow reef lies right in front of you for snorkeling and encountering tropical fish, rays, and the famous Akumal sea turtles. A ten-minute walk leads you to Yal-Ku lagoon, a cenote and large lagoon that blends fresh water with the ocean for a beautiful snorkeling experience away from the waves.

KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Riviera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware that there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

The Riviera Maya is full of natural beauty, places to explore, and opportunities for outdoor activities. We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of Sargasso that we would love to share with you. There is so much to see and do in this special place, and we know that you will have an amazing and memorable vacation!

This is an excellent 3rd story condo overlooking Akumal bay. The patio was great for morning coffee and afternoon cocktails with a great ocean breeze at all times keeping the condo cool and comfortable. Would definitely stay again! Management very responsive and helpful.

Great Location

Great 3rd floor condo right on the water. There is two bedrooms inside and a separate stand alone room right outside the front door. This room has its own bathroom, a.c... mircrowave, 5 gallons of bottled water etc... The condo has amazing views and right in the dead middle of the bay. This section of Akumal hasnt really changed in the last 40 years. Its a sleepy little area with an amazing cenote feedig water in the lagoon as it meets the bay. Which makes for awesome snorkeling. There are seveal small restaurants in this area that are walking distance. But we rented a golf cart for $45 usd for a day. The area is safe and super laid back. So if you are looking for clubs, etc... this is not the place for you. But if you are looing for super nice people. good restaurants, snorkeling in the bay or lagoon, and with some very nice accomdations then this is your getaway. Note... the kitchen is very well appointed. Lots of snorkel gear from past guests. Beds were comfy and daily maid service. We chose to go during May and sargasm was rolling in heavy into the bay. Which we knew and did not care. The north and south side of the bay did not have sargasm nor did the cenote/lagoon area. Bring water shoes to walk out a 100 plus yards into the bay as its shallow but rocky. Oh and the management company that manages this condo is honest and informative. Last thing is that its 3rd floor up several flights of stairs and no elevator. So you have to carry your luggage and be fit enough.

Es fantástico el lugar, muy amplio, tiene muchísimos apoyos y detalles para quedarse largas estadías, muchos detalles que lo hacen muy acogedor y funcional. No es nada ruidoso, la vista es increíble, el apoyo del conserje aun cuando llegamos tarde fue excelente. Desde que lo contrate recibí mails de los encargados por advertencia de sargazo que si bien fue un tema para la playa inmediata no arruinó nuestra estadía ya que nos fuimos a otra bahía y disfrutamos muchísimo. Es un lugar para estar en contacto total con la naturaleza. Muy, pero muy recomendable.

Wir haben den Urlaub in diesem tollen, großzügigen Appartement sehr genossen. Die Aussicht ist einfach phantastisch. Die Gastgeber sehr zuvorkommend und nett. Super toller Strand auch zum Schnorcheln.

Great property, great week in Akumal!

Loved our week in Akumal. Awesome snorkeling with lots of Rays, turtles, and countless fish right off the shore. Cheryl provided some nice tips and the condo was really nicely decked out.

Beautiful condo in paradise!

This apartment is just perfect. It is sparkling clean and the cleaning staff come in each day to keep it that way. The view from the apartment's balcony is fabulous and the beach is right outside, which is perfect. The apartment's kitchen is very well equipped and there are many towels for home and beach use. The management is extremely helpful and responsive. The condo is beautifully decorated for a beachfront apartment and comfortable for hanging out inside and on the large balcony. The restaurant/bar down the road is super convenient and they are very nice there. The three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, make it a fantastic place for family (my husband and I had our two adult children and their partners with us). The kids are the ones who named this place (location and apartment) paradise! If you want to relax on the beach with family/friends and enjoy a special peaceful spot, this is the place for you.

Just incredibly beautiful!

What a way to relax!! We stayed with our two adult children, their spouses and a one year old toddler. This place was sooooo perfect! It's a gorgeous "penthouse" right on the ocean! The view from the spacious balcony is mesmerizing. Walk straight out from the condo for some incredible and easy snorkling (we saw stingrays, all the beautiful fish on the reef ... and a turtle!) The owner was very helpful in all respects and arranged everything for us. She answered all our questions very quickly. We had plenty of water delivered daily, maid service was excellent, plenty of towels, sheets, blankets, even snorkling gear and shoes for the water! (Definitely need swim shoes in the water, which was warm and clear with lots of coral pieces underfoot.) If you want to be surrounded by peace, beauty, no crowds, and kind local business folks, definitely stay here. Very comfortable place - tons of DVDs, books, games. Thank you so very much, Cheryl, for sharing your home with us! Love, The Swain-Kunz Family We ate EVERY meal out and walked to each restaurant. DELICIOUS, great service! Only small complaints: the separate suite for the kids with the baby was a little warm and the kids complained that their mattresses were too hard ...

Super Place; Great Value

This place was amazing and a great value. Two couples and three kids spent a terrific four nights here. The location in Akumal and Half Moon Bay was outstanding. Listening to the waves on the balcony was most relaxing. There were at least two good restaurants within easy walking distance. The owner was cooperative and helpful and my only concern while we were there was that she has such nice furniture (a great dining table) and art that I was concerned that the kids might break some valuable art pieces that were within their easy reach. Fortunately that did not happen. We truly enjoyed this beautiful place and hope to be back real soon.

Perfect stay for a family! Beautiful Mexican charm!

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful spot in Akumal. Great location and the condo fit our family of 6 comfortably. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The morning view is stunning. What a difference it makes to wake up to the sound of the ocean each morning!

Perfect on every level

This unit could not have impressed us more. While we've visited Akumal several times we've never stayed. This place had all we were looking for and more. It accommodated our group perfectly (my husband and I, 2 kids 9 + 11, and my brother who used the little bachelor suite). Clean and airy with a view we'll be missing until we visit again! Akumal is always such a nice, quiet destination, and we mixed things up with a couple days trips to Tulum. The gentleman at the desk was so helpful in helping us rent a car each time, only $70 us per day. We enjoyed endless beach days, ate incredible food both at home and out, and spent a full day at Yal Ku Laguna which is always my favourite! Thank you so much to our hosts for sharing this gem, we will recommend highly to friends.

Relax, refresh, renew

Beautiful ocean view. Watch the sunrise over the water from your bedroom with shutters that open to reveal the splendor. Plenty of amenities for the condo and the ocean I.e. snorkel gear, etc. Private chef Daveed, a must try. Daily maid service was great. Location perfect to experience all that Akumal offers-beaches, lagoon, restaurants, etc.

Great place!

Enjoyed staying here. Daily cleaning was great. Overall cleanliness was fine. On a quiet road. Felt very safe. Shower was terrible especially in the evening no pressure at all. Really a trickle. Beach is very rocky. Half moon bay had good snorkeling. Not enough beach to throw a ball around. Need water shoes to walk in the water due to rocks and coral. Overall a nice stay.

What's not to Love?

We stayed here for five wonderful days and loved every minute. The location is perfect, the accommodation is extremely attractive and comfortable, and the view is to die for. The kitchen has everything you need too. An added bonus is the daily housekeeping service. We were spoiled! We enjoyed being able to walk to several excellent restaurants, even after dark. As other reviewers have mentioned, the beach right out front is beautiful but a little rocky getting into the water. Just wear water shoes and you'll be fine getting in and having a nice swim. Want to go to a PERFECT beach? A 15 minute walk takes you to idyllic Akumal Bay. A couple of things to be aware of: you'll walk up a considerable number of stairs to get to this perfect third floor condo, so be prepared. Also, there's no pool on site. That's also remedied by walking 3 minutes to La Buena Vida, a wonderful hangout for food and drinks. They have a refreshing pool on site for patrons of the restaurant and bar. Need to have laundry done? There's no washer/dryer in the condo nor in the complex, but if you take it to the management office at La Bahia (who manage this condo), they'll have it done the same day at a very reasonable cost. What more could you ask for? We would stay at this beautiful place again in a heartbeat!

Fantastic condo in the perfect location!

Akumal holds a very special place in mine and my husbands heart, and this holiday with our kids and my parents didn't disappoint. The condo was perfect! Beautiful location, wonderfully decorated and fully stocked. The views and ocean breezes breathtaking. I even got to experience a turtle laying her eggs at night and one baby turtle making his journey out to sea. Thank you Cheryl everything was perfect!!

Perfect!

We had 8 in our party and stayed for 9 days. We had 5 adults and 3 children under 9. Cheryl's place is just as the pictures portrayed. It is perfectly located so we could access all of Akumal. We rented a car to see the sites that were a little distance away and also bikes for a week for local beaches and restaurants. Snorkeling was fun on Half Moon and we were able to see lots of turtles in Akumal Bay. A beautiful area and Cheryl's place allows you to enjoy it all in comfort! Loved it!

my 60th birthday

Just got back and have to say this was the best trip i have taken. The people where so kind and helpful. the condo was all it claimed to be. and the correspondence with the condo owners lead us to some great places. The bay was not as calm as the pictures show and with a little noise in the day do to the building next store it simply just did not matter.thanks Cheryl. all i can say is get up now and go. Just do it.
