Tagua Tagua Lake is located in the Puelo mountain valley, east of the Reloncaví estuary and 11 km from the town of Río Puelo, capital of the commune of Cochamó.

Tagua Tagua Lake is surrounded almost without interruption by inaccessible walls of rocks through which the waters that come from its sides, from the steep mountains covered with vegetation that surround it, rush into narrow gorges, generally in the form of torrents or waterfalls. .
It was discovered by axemen in the 1860s when they were searching for the Alerce tree and other species for exploitation.
