Description

Discover the trails of Xcaret eco-archaeological park, then experience a celebration of Mexican traditions and history. This magical location is surrounded by lush jungle, underground rivers and the spectacular Caribbean Sea, featuring more than 40 attractions and activities.

Prepare for a day full of surprises as you make your way to the main pier of Cozumel. You're at Playa del Carmen only 35 minutes later, on board your transfer to Xcaret (pronounced SHCA-ret). Immediately you walk into this almost-mystical place you feel the ancient Mayan presence around you, perfectly in tune with the surrounding jungles, which has so influenced the post-Hispanic culture of Mexico.

Consult your map as there are so many places to see, including the Hacienda Henequenera, a colourful traditional plantation, the Folk Art Museum and the impressive Chapel of Guadalupe. At the aviary admire more than 40 species of tropical birds – such as pink flamingos or scarlet macaws – or head to the butterfly pavilion to feast your eyes on these heavenly creatures, flying freely in a tropical setting.

Check out the underground rivers for a refreshing detour, or alternatively swim, snorkel or sail the park's azure waters. Visit the Mayan Village to witness this ancient civilisation come to life before getting ready to witness “Mexico Espectacular.” A great way to conclude a fun-filled day, the musical celebration exhilarates while telling tales from Mexico's history with incredible costumes, rituals, and dancing.

Tour was ok. We had rain all day not a great time. The river was fun but many if not all shows were cancelled due to the rain. If you plan to come to Xcaret make sure its a sunny day.

Only one meal and two drinks for all day in the plus package overpriced and everything there costs extra except snorkeling if you want to do anything exciting better bring your wallet! Shuttle only runs at 4:40 and 9:40 more shuttles would have been good had to get a taxi back to the ferry.
