Description

Enjoy a full-day tour exploring the scenic countryside towns of Siena and San Gimignano. Discover the awe-inspiring landscape of the Chianti region, enjoy lunch with wine tasting on a rural farm and end the day with a visit to the enchanting commune of Monteriggioni.

Leave Florence early in the morning and head south to San Gimignano, whose 14 ancient stone towers helped it achieve the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy some free time to soak up the medieval ambiance and admire its many squares, churches and narrow streets.

Hop back on the coach and enjoy a beautiful journey through the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside, past vineyards, olive groves and tiny medieval hamlets that dot the landscape. Stop at a winery for a delightful lunch perfectly complemented by local vino.

After lunch, continue on to Siena, home of the famous Palio horse race. Meet a local guide and learn about the town’s fascinating history and culture. Discover the highlights of the historical centre, including Piazza del Campo, where the Palio is held.

End your journey with a self-guided tour of the medieval walled hill commune of Monteriggioni before heading back to Florence.

The tour was very organized and we made all the stops on time. The lunch at the winery was very good. I have been to Tuscany 7 times and done similar tour each time. I really liked the crew but my concern was the pace. For myself who is in my fourties, the pace was fine. I had brought my 70 year old father on this and he was having the hardest time keeping g up. We had to fall behind several times and in 1 stop he stayed behind all together. The bus parked at least 10-15 minutes outside each city center which I have never seen and we walked in before taking in the famous Tuscany hills. It was too much for him. In the future it would be good to provide a warning for folks that are not in top shape to reconsider this tour.

Too many people on this tour and it got a little messy. Lunch was a rush, they had to split the crowd into few lunch slots. Again because of the large crowd, the wait and counting of people before getting to the next destination was quite a drag. The places are nice and quaint but was quite boring, having 1.5-2hrs at each stop. Should have gone for another tour. Having said that, the guide Carmen did her best to manage the situation well.
