"The First Colony Inn is a lovely old property in a great location for visiting the Outer Banks. Our room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Buffet breakfast choices were very good and the hot option varied each day. There's a wonderful beach opposite the inn and a good selection of restaurants and shops nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return."

"The property has a vintage feel with updated interior and exterior, very calm and quiet, walking distance from shopping a bars, the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming! I plan to come back again next year."

"The property is lovely but as you would expect with a historic home it was missing some modern conveniences. There weren’t enough plug ins for all your electronic devices to charge by the bed. There is some signs of foundation issues and the room we stayed in was pretty small with the bathroom being a bit bigger than two phone booths. Overall it was charming but I was glad we only were staying one night."

"This inn was charming and conveniently located. But its main draw is the incredible generosity extended to guests. Lovely wine and hors d’oeuvres on the porch. But you could sit on the upstairs porch. Or the sitting upstairs or downstairs. Super helpful checkin information. And then a breakfast you cannot beat, served with kindness and attention. I can’t remember being so well treated. Many thanks. "

"Loved this place & its quirkiness. You definitely need to notice the fine print which I may not have fully but isn’t a true B&B. However, there are plenty of free breakfast continental items and specialty coffees and teas for your enjoyment. Self service what you want and how ever much you want. Snacks and drinks always available. Saw a staff member 1 time in almost a 2 days; however, the modern & convenient text service works fantastic!! I did have to use & got immediate responses. "Great historic property near downtown Edenton. Greeted by inn keeper and shown to our nicely appointed second floor room.Walked to our supper a couple blocks away close to the riverfront. Recommend for couples or single travelers. Excellent breakfast included."

"I loved everything about my stay. The hostess, Sharla, was an absolute gem. She allowed my mom and I to check in earlier than the original time, which made it easier to get to the concert venue in enough time. She truly made my experience one that I will never forget. I will come back to visit when I am in Greensboro again. She was helpful with giving us ideas of places to go and things to do. The room was clean and the bed was so comfortable.
