Very clean. Very, very convenient to subway and Manhattan. The neighborhood itself is not meant for hanging around in, although there is plenty to eat as far as good ethnic food. I say this as a native NYer, coming back to visit and not wanting to crash with relatives/friends. The price was great, and a clean, comfy room means everything. DEFINITELY bring ear plugs, it is very noisy, (not the hotel's fault) but that can probably be said for every single hotel/neighborhood IN NYC.
