Lorca apartment was perfect for us and Sami was very helpful. She even walked to meet us when a road closure prevented us from following our Google map directions! Alhama is a charming, restful place and we recommend both the town and apartment to anyone traveling in Andalucia.

A gorgeous cozy spot with incredible views while sipping wine on the balcony, cooking or sitting on the couch. Our friendly smiling host was very informative, leaving details about the area whether it was restaurants, opening hours and activities. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously and would not hesitate to recommend Alizon's abode to friends and fellow travelers. Excellent hiking and the olives and oranges were in their prime! Wonderful market in town, spa (warm pool) and baths nearby, Good location to use for longer stay with day trips to Granada, Cordoba, Baez and short drive to Malaga to continue our vacation. The hotel Alizon recommended near the airport was vey good. The apartment, kitchen was well stocked, clean and the shower is fantastic. with A railing on the stairs is recommended.

Lorca is an open plan appartment (kitchen, lounge area and bed) with adjacent bathroom, shower, toilet, bath etc. It is very comfortable and has (slow) wifi and a DVD player with a selection of mostly leftfield films to watch and indie CDs to listen to. There is a balcony, and eating on this while looking over the hills at sunrise and sunset was one of the real pleasures of our stay. The appartment was clean and generally well-maintained, but various things ranging from taps to lighbulbs need attention. Minor quibbles. The owner's instructions and local details were very helpful. Sami who let us in was helpful too and it was good to know that someone was on hand should we have needed anything. The appartment is situated on a hill in the old part of town. For the most part it is very quiet apart from the day time tolling of the church bells and dogs barking in the distance. Alhama welcomes tourists but it feels like it has other business to get on with too. We spent a happy eight days wandering around (the guided tour is essential), walking along the gorge to the various spas and just hanging out reading. Alhama was also a good base for travelling further afield. We did two trips out of town: Granada was just over an hour away. Directly north at a slightly longer distance is the picturesque town of Montefrío which we went to on spec rather than a recommendation. The town stands on a rocky outcrop. Arrive in good time to see all three fine churches before they shut at two and then take lunch. Alhama is not served with a big supermarket, so be prepared to make the sure daily shop around the various smaller shops part of your daily routine. Friday's market was great. If felt like there were enough bars to eat out every day for a forthnight (although getting used to Spanish times was a mystery to us Scottish folk). Ventorro just a short distance out of town was a hugely enjoyable restaurant for lunch. Overall, Alhama de Granada was a great sleepy destination to unwind in after a frenetic four days of sightseing in Seville. We loved it!
