Unfortunately we didn’t like much: the price was exorbitant compared to other accommodation stayed at in France, for very little provided. No internet service, no tv (both mentioned in write-up), erratic plumbing system, inadequate reading lights, blown light globes, skimpy towels and pillows - even the magazines on the coffee table were 3 years old. Given the out-of-the-way location, the quiet peace was relaxing, with only the sound of the chooks waking us in the morning; nearest restaurant seems to be about 8km away, but the public rooms included a kitchen with microwave. Breakfast was adequate and the owners pleasant.

an authentic taste of the French countryside

We loved sitting at breakfast with the doors wide open to watch and hear the farm animals, the prize-winning chickens, the guardian turkey, the playful Belgian shepherd and the purring cat. It was great fun trying to converse in a mixture of English and French, and our hosts Arnoud and Delphine were very helpful with suggestions for local sights and restaurants. The location was a great base for visits to the medieval city of Laon and the fairytale castle in Pierrefonds. A very comfortable and relaxing place to stay!
