A dying beauty...

Publicado el 24 sept. 2016
Pros: The room was fine.
Contras: For a swinger hotel, lies on occupancy are unacceptable.
Lugar: It's NOT easy to find!
Once upon a time there was a beautiful, well-planned swinger hotel. Now there is a sad, poorly staffed fading beauty with lies on Expedia. #1 - the site said only 2 rooms left. So we 2 couples expected a fun time with others. We were the only people there. #2 - I paid Expedia, non-refundable evidently, online. When we got there, the hotel staff (who spoke no English) had no paperwork from Expedia. The computer equipment was archaic; I'd left my laptop at home to go off grid for a break. They wanted my conf.# which I've never needed anywhere in the world. To keep it short, after several phone calls with the less-than-gracious owner, I had to pay a second time if I wanted to stay. #3 - will Expedia refund my payment??? #4 - the room was fine, but the public areas were musty. #5 - I did take a dip in the pool, which was kinda nice, like swimming in a pond. I didn't miss the chlorine and the algae was minimal. #6 - the poor lady working there dealt with my anger at the screwed-up situation & fixed us a tasty chicken dinner. Will I go back? I have 15 years experience in the hospitality industry. Had the owner told me (the first time on the phone) that we would sort it out in the morning & wished me a pleasant stay, I would've given him 11 out of 10 stars for good management. And I would have sent him business. However, he totally put me off. I expect the ghostly emptiness of the place will only get worse.

Great location

Publicado el 1 abr. 2015
We went to High Dreams to escape the heat on the beach. The mountain location provided the relief we were looking for But we were the only guests at the hotel. Consequently the hot tub was cool and only upon complaint did the temperature get adjusted. Victor was great and welcoming. He did a great job convincing us that what we wanted to drink and eat was what he had available. Some people might get irritated by this tactic. We just found it humorous. The room was clean and comfortable though not luxurious. The deck area was beautiful. A perfect place to enjoy breakfast. The upstairs pool was cold and pretty dirty. But watching the birds skim the surface was quite entertaining. Victor speaks excellent English. The other employee spoke none and our weak Spanish, though usually enough to get by, was totally ineffective with her. We were here mid week. I think things might be a bit more improved if there were more people in the hotel We will probably go again.

Save the Agony and find somewhere else!

Publicado el 5 ago. 2014 en Hotels
We drove almost 3 hours to this location to be told we had no reservation, even though we had a Hotel.com Confirmation # - how does that sound for a great weekend away? And that was only the beginning of our nightmare with this hotel...Try getting your money back! It took numerous international calls to Hotels.com, to the Hotel direct and emails, etc etc etc....Finally hotels.com refunded us the funds, but they were stymied by the hotel playing the we don't speak English game! The WORST Customer Service experience in our 4 months in Costa Rica.

Nude facility.

Publicado el 30 dic. 2013
Pros: See above.
This is a NUDE facility for couples. Expedia is not clear on that. "Adults only" often refers to a place that doesn't want children as they promote it to guests as being peaceful and relaxing. It is marketed in Costa Rica as a nude hotel for couples. That said, it is a BEAUTIFUL location with a large and lush surrounding area. I was the only guest that evening, so the option of keeping my clothes on (!) did not cause any awkwardness. The owner and staff were wonderful and gracious and brought me food and wine as I relaxed in the jacuzzi and sauna. The room was clean and elegant. In the morning, there was a huge and delicious Costa Rican style breakfast, and some world-class coffee (grown in the mountains of Costa Rica). The owner walked me around the site and showed me the beautiful scenery and the gorgeous pool area. I really loved the place and the staff were perfectly amazing. I would recommend it - but of course, it's nude, so a limited market. It is a gorgeous place for Expedia to endorse for groups looking for that type of venue. The owner only allows couples - it is not a singles place and he wants to keep it safe and legitimate so there is screening. There is a nice dance floor and recorded music for the guests if they are so inclined.
