Inconvenience
Publicado el 15 nov. 2019 en HomeAway
La Pradera de Melo is a spacious villa, well-equiped for two families with a nice pool-area and a BBQ-outdoor-kitchen. The villa is surrounded by an avocado plantation and the owner grows oranges, bananas, khakis, red pepper, tomatoes and so on.
If you control carefully the situation on google maps, you will notice, that the villa is surrounded by storehouses. From monday to saturday from 6 am to 8 pm, trucks are delivering their goods so you will hear the beeping noise of backwards driving trucks at 6 am instead of relaxing and sleeping. To make matters worse, there are sevaral construction sites around the villa and you will hear the noise of diggers and other construction site machines.
We complained about the noise in the beginning of our hollidays. In her response-SMS, the administrator offered us a concession for this inconvenience. We were happy to hear that she wanted to offer a concession, but we didn’t come to a compromise. After returning to Switzerland, I asked twice by SMS for the concession. More than three weeks back home, we still have no answer. According to my opinion, this behaviour of the administrator is definitely a no-go. We’re deeply disappointed about this.
La Pradera de Melo is on the northern side of Teneriffa, in the beginning of the valley of Orotava, the valley that is leading to the Teide. It happend several times, that the clouds covered everything starting at the height of Los Realejos to the Teide, while cities like Puerto de la Cruz, Santa Ursula and so on were still in the sun. If you don’t want to move every day for half an hour by car to see the sun, be aware of that.

Dear Urs,
we have received your comments with interest; we have read them several times in order to fully understand your arguments and we have made the effort to empathize with them. However, we cannot do so.
1. The organized pickup of fruit by trucks at 06:00am is an absolute exception and by no means a day to day "modus operandi".
2. The house is well isolated and backward parking bleeping can perhaps be heard vaguely, if at all. In the pool area it is possible this can be heard but this is not where guests sleep.
3. We do not control public or private building works outside of our jurisdiction as we are sure you do not either in Switzerland. Having said that we showed empathy and our best will and made a gesture with you in the form of a rate concession for the inconvenience caused by third parties (only during 4 days); you did not accept this concession and pretended for us to pay you an unreasonable and unrealistic amount of money to buy your silence; that is what we catalogue as a "no go". We do not accept being bullied or blackmailed and therefore the moment you did not accept our goodwill and elegant gesture the concession prescribed.
4. Fortunately we do not control the climate here or anywhere else on the island. Tenerife is an island of microclimates where weather conditions can change rapidly and can also be very different within a short distance; the north of the island is lush, green and a feast for the eyes and this is due to the higher moisture levels in this part of the island. We are sorry you were disappointed about the weather conditions.
5. Puerto de la Cruz on the northern coast is a 10/15 minute drive from the Pradera de Melo. Hardly a world trip.
Finally we would like to refer you to the comments, positive remarks and excellent valuations we have become for this property on the different accommodation platforms over time. On one platform we have 3 comments with 4* and 9 comments with 5 *. The property and guest satisfaction is consistently high as well as the management thereof. We see absolutely no grounds to continue messaging with you given the circumstances and of course wish you a wonderful stay in Tenerife whenever you decide to come back.
Yours Sincerely.
