Great Hotel in Barcelona
If I were travelling to Barcelona in the late Spring or Summer I think I’d prefer to be along the waterfront perhaps at the Arts or the W hotel. However, in late February when we were in the city, the Claris was ideally situated for shopping, dining and sightseeing. Everything was within walking distance from the hotel. The Metro was also just around the corner. The hotel was well maintained and the staff knowledgeable, friendly, and accomodating. All in all it was a perfect stay.

Good, but not great
So I guess it’s kind of quirky to have an Egyptian museum in your hotel and Claris is in a fantastic location - I felt like I was in the heart of the city, but these two facts I don’t think justify the cost or the 5* rating. The room was nice - solid furniture, but a bit small and on the whole just not quite as fabulous as I’d hoped. The lighting was awkward and it was hard to relax in the room. Service was great tho - very helpful staff.

great location, ok rooms
The hotel in general was very nice. Clean, well staffed, very interested architecture. The location is absoultely ideal in that it is one block from the Passig de Garcia and easily walkable to lots of stuff. In general a lively and very safe neighborhood. I paid for a package that included breakfast which was very nice. My only complaint is that for the money i thought the room could have been more comfortable. The bed was lousy and in general the room kind of sparse.
