Furnishings may be a bit tired but don’t let this put you off the bed linen is crisp and white and the rooms cleaned everyday. The only negative is there is no lift and therefore for older travellers this means carrying luggage up the stairs. Location is ideal close to train station and the main sights staff very friendly and helpful.

Not Impressed but location was great

If you don’t expect much and are more concerned about staying close to everything than this is the place for you. If you are looking for luxury go elsewhere. The location is about the only good thing about this hotel.

Bien placé, mais ne vaut pas son prix

situé entre la gare et le Duomo: toutes les visites sont accessibles à pied. Petit dèj: pas très bon, jus mauvais, pain sec Conseil touristique: parle en français mais n’aide pas beaucoup pour les visites tourisitques. Chambre: étroite, moquette, présence d’un ventilateur bruyant. déco bof. Douche avec fuites. Valises: pièce pour mettre les valises non fermée à clef

Hôtel La Gioconda

Hotel très bien situé, en plein centre ville, très proche de la gare et de tous les sites principaux. Bon accueil, salle de bain très propre et spacieuse. Nous etions coté cour donc très calme. Petit déjeuner copieux et servit jusqu’à 10h. Mini bar dans la chambre. Le seul point négatif, la clim est un peu bruyante mais ce n’est qu’un petit détail.

Would not return to hotel

Perfect location, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast a cold buffet and very good. The drawbacks are no lift, hotel in need of decoration and our room-although clean-was at the back of the hotel (view a horrible wall) the bathroom was crowded not even room to keep our toilet bags!

THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE WORST HOTEL IN FLORENCE.NO LIFT,THE TINEST BATHROOM IMAGINABLE YOU NEED TO BE A CONTORTIONIST TO BE ABLETO GO TO THE TOILET.YOU WONT EVEN WANT TO GET UP FOR BREAKFAST BECAUSE ITS REALLY NOT WORTH BOTHERING ABOUT DRIED UP PACKET CROISSANTS THE WORST COFFEE IN ITALY IT WAS DISGUSTING !!!CARPETS ARE FILTHY ,DECOR IS DREARY AND DIRTY.NOT A PLACE TO GO TO FOR A RELAXING LEISURLY BREAK ,IT HAS NO SITTING ROOM TO RELAX IN AND YOU REALLY DONT WANT TO STAY IN YOUR ROOM ANY LONGER THAN YOU NEED TO.

l’albergo è situato al centro di firenze in un posto strategico vicino alle più importanti attrazioni della città. ma malgrado tutto è spovvisto di ascensore e almeno nella mia stanza mancava il bidè.cmq l’albergo e le camere sono molto pulite.

prime location, bad heating system

i like the hotel. the location was excellent. i couldn’t ask for a better location!! We were there early March 2010 and got a great deal. The hotel is about 300 meters from the main train station and the Duomo. breakfast was minimal and the coffee was bad. the croissant was more of bread shaped like a croissant! the problem: no elevator. BAD BAD BAD heating system. the rooms were cold and the hot water wasn’t working all the time. they called the plumber one night and he couldn’t come so I had to wait until the next day to take a shower!!! the rooms were cold and if it wasn’t for the nice receptionist (who gave me a small heater) i would have froze there! other than that, it’s a nice hotel, nice people, prime location, comfy room, clean shower, clean room. all good except for the heating system.

Prima ligging, erg centraal. We hadden een kamer aan de voorkant op de 2e verdieping en dan hoor je wel wat van de straat. Het ontbijt is typisch Italiaans met erg veel verpakte en zoete dingen. Verder netjes en schoon.

INCREDIBILE MA VERO-Servizio ZERO

Albergo vale 2 stelle per struttura, camere, servizio, e pulizia.Camera molto piccola, coperte sporche e macchiate,malodorante anche la moquette,bagno microscopico da non poter chiudere la porta e/o parzialmente utilizzare solo in modo scomodissimo!!!No fon in camera.Colazione inesistente.Evidente attenzione ai costi da parte della Direzione.SERVIZIO senza parole anche per deposito bagagli:ci è stato detto di poter mettere i bagagli in una stanza al 1. piano non sorvegliata (con accesso libero a tutti-dove c’era anche un via vai inquietante ..),senza alcuna custodia garantita e nessuna ricevuta da parte dell’albergo o interessamento! Ognuno può entrare e scegliere un bagaglio di colore e dimensioni desiderate e uscirne tranquillamente.La Direttrice e il receptionist hanno reagito con grande scortesia, irritazione e dicendo che questo non era un servizio che l’albergo doveva ai propri Clienti, ma solo una GENTILEZZA e che in ogni caso non si assumevano nessuna responsabilità per eventuali danni o furti! Io credo che pagando per un servizio, quale un pernottamento presso un Albergo, si abbia diritto in ogni caso di avere qualcosa in cambio! Visto che non siamo stati ospiti a casa di amici, ma presso un albergo PAGANDO! Abbiamo dovuto portare i nostri bagagli nel deposito sorvegliato presso la Stazione adiacente, perdendo tempo e PAGANDO.Non mi era MAI successo in tanti anni di viaggi frequenti, sia in Italia che tantissimo anche all’estero!

Trés bien situé mais état d’entretien insuffisant

Des problème de non fonctionnement de la chasse d’eau ont persisté plus de 48 heures durant notre séjour.

the heart of Florence

To be in Florence, the La Gioconda was a great choice, an historic part of the city. There are no lifts, but it was expected, we travel light so no problems. The breakfast was limited, the coffee excellent. The staff was helpful, the owners were on site and friendly. One staff member, Michael was extremely helpful by sending us to a fabulous restaurant near the Ponte Vecchiio and guiding us to other "non-tourist" sections of the city. The Duomo was right down the street, and we were within walking distance of many sites and the train station. The rooms were small, but we were there to see the city, not spend a lot of time in the room.

November is a great time to go to Florence, no lines, no waiting for nearly all museums and cathedrals. The weather a bit cool and rainy, not enough to distract from the trip.

good location but noisy

We booked 4 nights but we had no hot water the first 2 nights. Something went wrong with the boiler I think. Staff apologised and tried their best . Of course it happened during the weekend .... Although we requested a room at the back,,we found the hotel very noisy . Machinery going at 6am so no much sleep .We did not mind the bells it was just people talking loud very late at night in the hotel. The good thing about the hotel was the location, close to everything.

Duomo Cathedral Museums Uffizi /Accademia Ponte Vecchio A day trip to Siena by bus from Station. It only costs 6.80 euros one way to the center of Siena.

Très bien situé, mais décoration à revoir!

l’emplacement est idéal, mais il n’y a pas d’ascenseur, et la décoration et la climatisation doivent dater des années 50; en revanche, les salles de bains sont neuves, le linge est régulièrement changé, et le personnel est agréable. Le petit déjeûner est réduit au minimum. Demandez des plaquettes anti moustiques et des chambres côté cour!

Un excellent accueuil.

Le personnel est aux petits soin. Accueil très agréable, parlent très bien le français. Chambres un peu vétustes mais propres. Les seuls points négatifs résident dans la climatisation portative qui fait un bruit terrible, ainsi que le petit déjeuner qui n est quand à lui, vraiment pas bon.

Un conseil, ne pas prendre la formule avec "petit déjeuner compris" et traverser la rue où se trouve une délicieuse pâtisserie florentine typique.

Hotel verbesserungswürdig, Lage genial

Direkt in der Innenstadt von Florenz, 5 min zu Fuß zum Duomo und allen anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten wiegen das schon abgewohnte Hotel und die kleinen Zimmer auf, nicht zu viel erwarten, Frühstück "Italian style" für einen Kurztrip in Florenz akzeptabel, allerdings ist Parken ein Problem, Parkgarage in der Nähe, 24,--Euro/Tag (2009) Besser mit dem Zug, Bahnhof ca. 10 min zu Fuß.

Great example of you get what you pay for

This hotel is in a fantastic location you are right next to the Duomo (its across the road) and from there you can stroll on by from one square to the next. The rooms were clean but basic. The hotel was slightly run down but definitely had character. The reason i wouldn’t particularly reccommend it is due to the noisy air conditioning unit, it wasnt much better than just having the window open but on a busy road it was just as noisy; not a peaceful night sleep. Breakfast was nice but very basic, bread rolls and jams, plain croisants and a cake option. Cereals, nothing very substancial but then if this is what you look for its perfectly fine! Hotel staff were very friendly and speak English, always happy to answer any questions you might have.

you are ripped off on water, this made a massive dent in our spending money, we were being charged up to 3euros a bottle but when its 37 degrees and you’re sightseeing what else can you do. Theres a supermarket down one of the side streets near the Santa Croce square selling water for 45cents. Take advantage!!

Price to high for what you get

Although basic even by European standards this hotel was not worth the cost. Breakfast was minimal with a limited variety. Cleanliness of room and hotel were not worthy of a 3 star. Location was great but would have rather walked further to attractions and had a more comfortable hotel.

Nice location and nice hotel!

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and it’s a nicely located in the center of Florence. We had a room on the top floor so quite some stairs to clime (for older people this might be tough). The room is cleaned well everyday, had a tv, ok bed. The bathroom could use some work but it was sufficient.

Would recommend this hotel for people that don’t plan to spend a lot of time in the hotel, just for sleeping/showering and the rest of the time be out in florence.

stay someplace else!

This hotel has a very good location, and the breakfast is fine, as is the bathroom (quite modern, but needs a shower curtain). However, the hotel itself looks dirty in public areas, and we never had our sheets changed, though were were there for six days. Worse, we woke up covered with flea bites during the last night there. Some of the staff was helpful, but not all. There are better choices with just as good a location, not a three star quality. WE have traveled all over the world, always in budget hotels and this is the worse we have ever been in. Stay elsewhere!

No help, Careful if you have big heavy luggage

Location is not bad, near Duomo and train station. However, there is no elevator in this hotel. We were staying on the top floor and after we checked in, we asked the staff to help us on the luggage since we have a 50 lb hardcase and two small luggages. We were shocked that he refused saying he is the only staff in the hotel at that moment and can’t help us. So we had to lugged everything to the top floor (about 4 high floors) by ourselves and the worst is the staircase is sort of spiral in design so it made the lugging even harder. The same thing happened when we checked out. Also, there is no central air in the room. There is one portable air conditioner in the room and when we arrived, it were shut off even the outdoor temperature was nearly 90F. It took about half an hour to cool the room but luckily the unit worked fine. Besides the lower price compared to other hotels nearby, I don’t recommend this hotel especially for tourists who prefer more romantic environment and comfort.

Be careful when you order water and beverage in some tourist-trap restaurants, prices are ridiculously high. Read the menu careful when order the above, ask the size of beverage before order unless you don’t mind to pay Euro $4 for a small can of soda (smaller than those in the US). Go to restaurants with lesser tourist, prices are cheaper and food are much well cooked.
