Great Staff Team (March 6th - March 13th)

During check in we requested rooms next to the other couple with us and Jose made it happen. We were lucky to get rooms next to the beach and our patios had ocean view. The staff.. maids, waiters, waitress, bartenders, and animation team went out of their way to make our stay very pleasant. Thank you to all of you. This is a 3 star hotel so do not expect more than that. You know it when you booked. I want to say thank you to Expedia for giving us a courtesy call one day before departure to ask how our stay was at the Grand Paradise Bavaro. The only tid bit I have to say is that this is the second year that the time for our pick up by the bus was not posted at the Expedia site.

Terrific staff, clean room

Was first disappointed with location of room which was supposed to be "superior ocean view". The next day we were given an ocean view room,however there was an older jacuzzi in the bathroom which served as a tub but no shower except for a hand-held shower spray, but the view made up for that inconvenience. Most rooms are not ocean view- we later realized. The room was always very clean as well as the entire property. The furniture in the room is very tired and needs updating. The staff was always accommodating and very friendly. The beach was outstanding. Some beach chairs were broken. The animation team and their shows were enjoyable. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Paradise Bavaro Amsha

Hotel rooms were very clean but run down. Our room was near the main disco/bar and very noisey until 2am. We were moved to another room, same building, only slightly less noise. Sinks and drains had no stoppers. Beach was beautiful and very clean but was crowded. Meals had nice menu but often cold. Buffets were very crowded. Dinning rooms that need reservation were usually always booked. Swimming pools were excellent. Organized activities and activity staff were great, always some games going on. Tennis facilities were great, staff could be availble for a game for a modest tip.

Not bad...Definately going back to DR..different hotel

I read all the other reviews about this hotel..some good some bad. This is an older Hotel with lots of renovations. If your room is on the Ocean side it has some wear and tear..The pool / casino side is newer. We opted for the beach side for obvious reasons. My co travelers toilet was not working when we arrived and was still not working properly to the day we left..but we are easy going..we shared my rooms bathroom..When we check out they did try to charge us for the broken toilet, but we explained it was broken upon arrival and the nominal fee was waived..not right to charge us to begin with. There is absolutely no need to dress up here. Bathing suit during the day, shorts at night. The excursion vendors are a little pushy, but nothing in comparison to the souvenirs..they should not be allowed on the resort..We opted not to go to any restaurants, too many picky eaters, but the buffets were excellent

Beautiful vacation!

The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel grounds were very clean and well maintained. The beach was absolutely beautiful and the aqua blue water lovely. The food was good. (Two nights at a resturant, all other meals at the buffet) The buffet was very good with a lot of variety but if you love gormet food you will be dissapointed. The rooms were clean, however not the best maintained as there were a few things missing or broken. Don’t let these small things bother you since you will spend all of your time on the beach. There are some topless woman on the beach at any given time. Overall, we had a wonderful time. I have to report also that three of the five of us in our group got sick. We didn’t drink the water so we were not sure why we got sick.

First Time Visitor:

Excellant, relaxing vacation for the price. Over Thanksgiving week very quiet, 1/3 of resort was open, few kids, able to let teenagers hang on their own without worries. Resort staff extremely pleasant and funny, they enjoyed getting $1.00 tips and it helps you get in good with them. The snorkeling excursion was great! Barter with anything that is being sold on resort and off, if you go off the resort to the shopping area next door, remember that all the stores have basically the same stuff and they are like sharks, you can get them to drop the price with persistence. Lots of fun, we would love to go spend every Thanksgiving there! Club Caribe staff awesome!

good deal. We will go back

Nice hotel, very big, some areas were closed, Very slow in the front desk. Over 4 hours to get our room. Building 3 was nice. Beautiful view from our room. Food was good and fresh, No bother with the Seafood Restaurant (was terrible, food and service). Steak House excellent. Must be a problem with towels never enough. Drinks were ok. Wine list good and affordable. Tip. Bring some change for tips, very well appreciated, If you plan to go to Saona Island, be ready 3-5 hours r/t.

Bernardo is the Man

We went with friends to the Grand Paradise Bavaro and enjoyed the week of stay. The transportation arranged through Expedia was prompt and they got us to the hotel very quickly. You can not beat the price for the 7 days in the sun with all the food and drink you want to eat. The grand buffet was the best place to eat during the breakfast and lunch meal. The beach buffet was good but the same thing every day. We ate at three of the restaurants in the complex and really enjoyed the Asia restaurant the best. They entertained and provide an excellent meal. We also enjoyed the steak house with great service and good food. We ate at the Italian restaurant and were very disappointed with the main course. The antipasta bar was great but the main course was poor. The staff in the entire resort was very pleasant, some went out of their way to make you enjoy your stay. We really enjoyed the beach bar, Sandy and Bernardo were outstanding in making sure we enjoyed our stay. Bernardo would bring drinks to the beach for us, naturally we would give him a small tip but it was worth it for us. You can always order mixed drinks from the list at each bar, be advised you will not have top notched booze but the drinks are good. The beer is always El Presidenti. Check in and check out was prompt and pleasant. For the price we got from Expedia, you can not beat the vacation.

Don’t recomend Grand Paradise Bavaro

This resort is one of the older ones on the island. The people were wonderful, but we paid extra money for a "non-smoking suite with a king size bed" and got nothing of the kind. We switched our room twice and still never got a non-smoking room or a king size bed, but a room with 2 full sized beds. We still had a wonderful vacation despite the horrible food and the hotel, the beach and the weather were gorgeous

If you’re looking for good food, don’t stay at this hotel, at least 2 of the restaurants listed on the resort map are no longer open. We ended up eating french fries for lunch, and spagetti for dinner every day.

Good hotel and good experience

We had a very good experience at this hotel. Beach was beautiful. Food was good. Buffets did not really change and were ok, but the restaurants were good. Especially The Asian one. Service from staff was also good, and any problems they tried to fix right away. Helps if u speak spanish, but everyone did speak english there. Would go back

enjoyed our stay

i recommend this resort to anyone,staff was very friendly and helpful.food was delicious.beach beautiful and also the pools were nice and clean. bring singles for tipping its well worth it.

Grand Paradice Bavaro Hotel

In my opinion the service and the attention in general are very good. I would recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to have a relaxed week on the beach.

great place

I was very pleased with service, entretaiment,food,etc., everyone were into make the stay very pleasant, from the waiters to desk personel.

Have small bills, tipping can get you very far

It was ok....

This hotel is beautiful, however the staff in particular the front desk was horrible! It got to the point where I just did without to keep from asking them for something they would say they would send it, and you would neevr hear back from them. I am STILL waiting on an ironing board! The shows were good, the food was good, as long as you didn’t need anything, you were fine. The rest of the staff was very friendly, HOLA!!! The BEACH was breath taking! I cried when it was time to come home!!!

Not Impressed

The management staff was teribble. Asked for a remote for TV several times on 1st day on 6th day still did not have one. Air condition was not good and cool. Was suppose to have a king size bed and told we would be moved next day. Finally on next to the last day was offered a king size room. The cleaning person was great. Can find better room and service for what was paid for the room. You only get 2 choices a week to eat anywhere other than the 2 buffets for supper. Never have heard of an all inclusive like that. The food was good if you like buffet food for 7 days. The island was beautiful and would go back just not at this hotel.

Grand Paradise

I must say this was a great trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was great. All you can eat buffets were included with the all inclusive package. Your best bet is an all inclusive package otherwise its pretty expensive. The hotel was very nice, our room was clean with a great view of the ocean. There are no elevators but only three floors so its not so bad.

Paradise it is not and that’s being kind

The hotel functions at a bare minimum. There is no entertainment... animation team is very weak and there are no shows, no music to dance to. The bar drinks are yukkie (and that from a person who is not a drinker). The pool was all green for the first three days. They fixed it eventually. The jacuzzi was not clean. The beach party was very poorly organized. The rooms are clean but pretty run down. This hotel needs a major renovation. The beaches are gorgeous... it is a big shame... I will definitely go back to Punta Cana but never again to this resort. For the money we paid for this resort it definitely was a rip off.....

Awesome hotel for the price

This hotel was absolutely great for the price we paid!! I was a little skeptical when reading the mixed reviews, but it turned out great! It wasn’t a five star, but that also isn’t what your paying for. We loved everything about the hotel. The only thing that was a disappointment was that we were not given the correct rooms. We had requested two ocean front rooms with king beds-both rooms were with full beds. Even after going back down to the service desk they were only able to accomodate us with one of the correct rooms. It wasn’t a huge deal, but just make sure you let them know if something isn’t right. The dining options were great though as well! Even the buffet had lots of choices with some really GOOD food. We did dine at the Seafood place which was excellent! It’s an open air building right on the water with really good seafood choices. We also dined at Asia (which is $10 extra per person), but it was worth it. We dined there twice, once just ordering off the menu and the other time hibachi style. You get a lot of food for the $10. The beach was also beautiful! Nice sand and warm clear water. The pools were nice too, but I’m just more of an ocean person. The bar staff was really great, definitely did not have a single watered-down drink. There was tons of liquor in each one. Overall, I’d say it was a great resort!! There isn’t much that can ruin your trip when your in a place like the Dominican.

We also did the Bavaro Runners excursion. It was awesome!! You get to see more of the Dominican culture on this and our tour guide was hilarious (you definitely want Mimi!). They really filled the day with a variety of fun activities and at the end you get to see a different beach and even go swimming there. I highly recommend it. We also went to the Maniti Park because they had thrown it in for free and it was neat.

Could be better, not terrible.

If you are on a tight budget and cannot afford a better place, this hotel will do. It’s clean, safe, and the drinks were good. The service was poor. I was nervous about the bad reviews and I can see where they are coming from, but it’s not an aweful place. The beach is gorgeous! The food was good, lots of options. The steakhouse was delicious. Brush up on your Spanish before you go! The resort is very large, but there is a shuttle train to take you to and from everything and it comes by about every 15 minutes. The grounds are clean and beautiful. We had to switch rooms midway through our stay, we had a very difficult time getting towels for our room (they never gave us any and then searched our room for them when we told them that before they would give us more), they were out of beach towels at the pools and beach, the waiters are very slow with bringing drinks. It was not very clear as to where you could eat and when. The map was terrible and they didn’t have a list of what was going on and when. It was still a nice, relaxing vacation that was very reasonably priced. Be prepared for everything to take a long time and then you won’t be disappointed!

Bring at least $50 in singles to tip. Also, you have to pay a $10 entrance fee per person at the airport. There is a market just to the left of the resort where you can bargain for souveniers. It is much more reasonable than the resort. It is a topless beach. Make your dinner reservations the first day you get there. Be prepared to stand in line for a while. Bring your own beach towel if you can! Get to the beach early and lay your stuff under some shade.

Food and Beach was the best thing there

Food was very good, my whole family enjoyed it. Room was not ready, they just finished painting it and you could still smell the paint. We stayed there with my two year old and we were concerned with the smell and the fact that she may get dizzy. I checked at the front desk to see if we can get another room but we were told that the other rooms have no AC. So we decided to stay in our original room and were grateful that we have AC. However, next day, there was no AC in our room either. We spent one night sweating and could not sleep well. They fixed the AC the next day. Beaches were very nice, bar service was great, pools average. Probably a good vacation place if you have no kids. We also did not expect to pay arrival fee of 10 dollars per person, so make sure you have some cash when you go there. Also bring some cash for tips, at least 10 dollars a day. Comunication was difficult, they do not speak much english. If you pay with the credit card, they add 16% service fee on top of it. Food was delicious, restaurants were really nice, service was very good too.

Mixed Feelings

Our A/C didn’t work for the first 3 days. Make sure you ask to be moved. When we got their 2 rooms they sent us to were not clean yet. It is however very beautiful and relaxing. Try to get out of the resort and see the real country!

Take sunscreen, US dollars (they don’t take much else), snacks, Pepto,flipflops, and multiple bathing suits! You really don’t need much besides the above. Try to get to Santo Domingo for souvenir shopping--much cheaper!! The buffets aren’t great so don’t get your expectations up. Enjoy the beautiful beaches and included drinks. Dolphin Island, parasailing, and free boogie boarding recommended. Nightly entertainment is fun. 1st day explore property & options you have for food& excursions.
