Not bad for a couple of nights’ lay-over.
We overnighted at Habana Libre while in transit between flight to Miami and getting on a cruise. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the room and lack of cockroaches. They did well to honour our request for a bath with a tub. Surprised to pay a $6 surcharge for "pool towels, use of the WiFi, breakfast, etc." Location ... on the north side of the hotel a low apartment building, VERY close, completely blocks the view. Avoid rooms on floors 2 and 3 on the north side oif you can. The room itself, while clean, was quite small and definitely "dated". Looks like facelifts are in progress, at least in the public areas? Sound insulation between the rooms is poor (ours had a door to an adjoining room). Breafkast --- not bad, cold cereal, toast, eggs, ham. Walk to the boardwalk and the beach is quite accessible although you are are some 15 blocks away from the good restaurants. The neighbourood seems safe for walking at night. The pool, which we did not use, looked to be a little dated but clean.

Great Value and Easy on the Wallet!
This is a great place to stay if you want to be close to South Beach but don’t want to pay a fortune. The beach and the boardwalk which brings you right into the Art Deco area of South Beach is only a 3 minute walk (it is about a 15 to 20 minute walk down to the Art Deco Area). Our room was a corner suite with a kitchenette - it was a great size room, more than enough room for two people and a big closet - although, our pillows were a little flat. They were doing some minor renovations when we were there but it didn’t disrupt our stay. The elevators were a little scary and could use some updating. The breakfast in the moring was very very basic - eggs, toast, ham and cereal. There isn’t anything directly around the hotel (ie. shops or places to eat) and there are a few deserted buildings that are up for sale in the area around the hotel which made the area look a little run down. There was some major road construction happening when we were there - which was right beside the pool and it was just too noisy to be able to enjoy the pool. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel and we took the bus all over Miami Beach which I highly recommend doing. Overall, it was a great place to stay because it wasn’t super expensive and close enough to everything we wanted to see. I would stay here again.

Habana Libre Hotel - Miami Beach
Hotel non all’altezza delle aspettative, soprattutto considerando il costo. I problemi principali sono stati due: 1- La stanza era strettamente comunicante con la stanza accanto (divisa solo da una normale porta dalla quale passava molta luce attraverso le fessure). Il risultato è una totale intimità con i vicini di stanza: riuscivo a sentire anche quando si rigiravano nel letto. Zero privacy. 2-La tenda oscurante era molto più corta della finestra, e quindi già dalle prime ore del mattino la stanza era pienamente illuminata. Sconveniente per chi vuol dormire fino a tardi. La pulizia della stanza era comunque impeccabile. La colazione molto deludente e di bassa qualità.
