Great Family Beach Hotel
Our one week stay at the Grand Cayman Beach Suites was fantastic! The one bedroom suite was perfect for our family of four. The staff was very helpful and the room and all bathroom facilities at the hotel were kept extremely clean. The hotel pool and beach are only steps away from our hotel suite. The restaurants at the hotel are fantastic. However, all food on the island is very expensive, so we often walked to the local food store (5 minute walk) to get provisions for breakfast and lunch.

Very Impressed-
The Cayman Beach Suites, old Hyatt, was a very nice place to stay. It was maybe not as fancy as the Ritz or the Marriott but it made up for that in service, cleanliness and very friendly staff. The rooms were big and had a nice layout to them and nicely decorated. I would give the hotel a 10.

good middle of the road hotel, not really 4 stars
Room - as advertised, clean, large, superb view (ask for a room as close to the beach as possible - views get better the closer you are) Front-desk/concierge: really not up to standard. Were not able to provide a basic map and directions to restaurants that they recommended, asked me to look up the phone number for restaurants myself. In 20 years of travelling, this was the consistently (6 nights) weakest concierge desk I’ve encountered. Hotel: pool is nice, beach is absolutely pristine, ocean is nice with decent snorkelling straight off the beach. However, with open outside corridors, and given the layout, there is a slight motel feel to the place - not really consistent with the 4 stars and the price. My conference was at the ritz carleton - much nicer hotel (common areas), but smaller and much more expensive rooms. So its a trade-off. My wife was quite satisfied with the room and the beach, but agreed with the strangely unhelpful front desk/concierge. Final word of advice: grand cayman is rather expensive, by north american standards (food, activities, etc) - but you get to walk along one of the nicest beaches in the world, and the fact its expensive means that it doesn’t have a spring break feel.
