nice hotel, despite pool area construction
Le Meridien is beautiful and we would definitely return. The location is not as predicted, however. "Garden view" was a view of an unused green patch before the street; since our room was on the second floor (first floor, really) we looked onto a busy Giza street. The power went out at 5 am the morning we were to check out and luckily we had packed the night before because there were no emergency lights in the rooms. Our first night at 5 am someone pounded on our door and left. We still never figured that one out but laughed later about the whole experience. The room itself was beautiful, the bathroom all granite and way better than many U.S. hotels. If you rent a "limousine" through Hertz (highly recommended after the frightening ride at night from airport to hotel, hour and a half at same price as limo), ask for Aziz. For a steal, he would take you whereever you wanted for 8 hours, give you tips on saving money, and take you to good places for food. We became good friends and called him from other hotels when we returned to Cairo later on our journey. The pool area was under construction. We also could not see the pyramids from the hotel. The area was safe to walk in.

Meridien Pyramids : Accueil, calme, luxe et tranquilité aux pieds des pyramides
Séjour enchanteur au Caire du 15 au 20 février 2010. Excellent hôtel que le Méridien, le service est parfait, discret et efficace, chaleureux... Mention spéciale au bar "Harris" et à son personnel... Buffet varié et de trés bonne qualité. Quant aux merveilles du Caire... J’en suis encore sous le charme...
